MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 9:11 AMHi, ca va, wie gehts, everybody. Still wet behind the ears here so forgive me if this is something that's been brought up before, but like most I have my own hypothesis as to parts of Prometheus's plot.
If anyone remember Alien 3 it went through development hell, and in an early draft William Gibson wrote that the Alien's infected humans through an ebola-like virus that turned them into Alien pawns (like in the Thing). You can see so many hints towards a communicable alien-thing in the Prometheus trailers - you can see Fifield with something crawling under his skin (you can identify him as part of his name is visible on his forehead, and by his mohawk haircut), and you can see a former astronaut in the spacesuit-uniform attack the others (my moneys on Fifield). You can see David squeezing an alien goo and watching the alien 'worms'.
Am I deliberately trying to find patterns with the Alien series or does this sound plausible? Any other theories for the alien antagonist?

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 9:15 AMWesty, If were you, I would try to focus more on only the first TWO Alien films to be even remotely related to this movie. 'Alien' and perhaps even more present 'Aliens" should be considered the only type of canon for this film. Everything else should be considered respected, unrelated, fan-faction.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 9:16 AMIn my humble opinion, anything NOT written by Scott himself OR James Cameron will not be considered as having any relation to this franchise.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 10:04 AMScrew Cameron. I never considered any sequel to the first film canon. I think Jim's "insect" version of the Aliens was as uncreative as it gets. It's a visually great looking 80'es action film. That's all. The enemy could have been the russians and they wouldn't have had to change a damn thing.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 10:58 AMIn true O'Bannon style, Scott isn't so much taking from one movie (never made as it may be) but from a bunch of movies. Some classic, some less so. 2001, Solaris, Event Horizon, hell, even Pandorum. The question is can he make magic like O'Bannon and he did in 79.
