MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 6:47 PMSomeone may have said this before - but I noticed that both Weyland in his TED speech and David in his 'Our family is Growing' video mention that at Weyland industries its been their goal to create artificial intelligence almost indistinguishable from humans, and they both make special emphasis of the point. So I'll just jump straight into it:
Maybe Weyland Corp is trying to find out how to create life and that's why they're so interested in finding out what the starmap leads to. His 'we are the gods now' proclamation makes sense in relation to genetic engineering which has been criticised as playing god (he also mentions stuff like M-Theory etc etc in the TED talk). Maybe Weylands' ambition really does know no bounds, and maybe VIckers is on the expedition to grab anything which could be useful to the Company. Then when they start grabbing stuff (stealing fire from the gods or whatever) shit goes crazy, people mutate, Shaw gets pregnant with a squid and it all finally results in their proverbial livers being pecked out by xenomorphs.
It's all just silly speculation really....I might just keep my mouth shut until the movie comes out

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 7:01 PMOh, Weyland is ABSOLUTELY trying to create life, or at least extend it. Being that one of the Weyland heirs is in a wheelchair for Pro, we have to think his mortality is at issue and he is wanting to create it. If you have more money than "God", you think you are "God" and deserve the same privilege of immortality...

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 8:00 PM"We are the Gods now," claims Weyland ... and what is a god if he is not immortal?

Midgardsormen was not a simple poisonous snake, he is fighting Tor (god of thunder) on Ragnarok, both falling in the end. And it is so big it surround Midgard (biting it's own tale).

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 12:14 PM Scientists seem to speculate, on the evolution of mankind, that it would eventually download all its knowledge and consciousness into its own technology and replace this with their original body. = bio-mechanics to be the next stage of human evolution.
If Sir David could download all of HIS memories and experiences into an android like David, all he would be missing would be the ingredient for 'life.' To make the digitized version of himself alive, and therefore immortal.
Or as I always say, maybe not.
