MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 2:39 AMWatched Alien last night and i noticed that as the Nostromo is landing on the planetoid that the instruments were showing a very mountainous area........so perhaps in Prometheus it could very well be LV-426.
OR perhaps it might be Acheron....who know.
NO NO.....ive changed my mind lol........LV-426 is ALIENS isnt it?
Prometheus is meant to be the original universe so in Sir Ridleys mind there wont be an LV-426....because LV-426 wasnt in his original vision was it?
But then the planetoid didnt have a name did it?

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 3:34 AMWell. If it was the same, wouldn't you be able to see the star in the Alien picture?
The way i see it, LV-426 has a star that is much further away than the planet from Prometheus does.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-30-2012 3:38 AM1. the star would probably be behind the gas giant.
2. it was 1979, such special effects were still in their infancy back then.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 3:41 AMWell.........perhaps in the Prometheus pic the star is out of shot as the ringed planet is being lit from a slightly different angle..........and the position of the planets oddly seem the same as Alien which is silly because its a different time frame so surely they should be in different positions assume they orbit the ringed planet, which they would because they have gravity, we know that much.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 3:43 AMoops wrong way round.......sorry its Prometheus with the star isnt it. But the lighting is still a little different

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 3:50 AMThey are both images from Alien ... where did we get info that the 1st image is a Prometheus image? ... look closely to the 1st image you can see Nostromo's outline on the 1st Planetoid ...

Simon
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 3:55 AMIt can't be behind the big planet, because the moon is illuminated as well.
I'll buy the one about special effects being new and all that, though a little ray tracing (which is not special in any way) would have taken care of it.

MemberTrilobiteMar-30-2012 4:03 AMHold on... isn't this system supposed to have two stars, I'm sure I heard that somewhere, wouldn't that explain the moon being illuminated.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 4:08 AMYes, Two images from Alien.
The only thing confirmed for Prometheus is that the planet where they land in the movie is part of a multiplanet system, and that one of them has rings ( Probably a gaz one, because it's massive). To me the planet where they land in movie is a satelite of this big ringed planet. (Some of you will see similarities with Avatar...)

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 4:19 AMI'm becoming increasingly amazed at some of the posts on this site. Both of these images are from Alien. LV426 although perhaps not referred to by name in Alien is the planet in the original film.

mister me
MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 7:29 PMMe thinks the crew land on something "alien" (sorry) to that of the original movie. The end of the new movie sees this world turn into turmoil. Several other worlds within the system fail under Jockey control leaving a stranded ship issuing a warning. What they ploughed from this system and tampered with was their undoing....well in that system anyway.
