Original SJ hole in chest

It was probably not a facehugger that bursted from the spacejockeys chest. It could have been a chestburster(not being a wise guy, i get what you mean). I also tought about the exploding head and the pilot in the first alien movie. But thats not so important to the story i think. And yes, finally someone who see things clearly. People have to stop obsessing around how its going to lead up to alien and "the nostroooomoooo oooohhhhhhh...scary"... The nostromo carries no signifigance to this movie at all, its a stand alone movie taking place in the same universe, strands of alien DNA will be in it, thus the juggernaut ship and the spacejockey and so on....phu... That was the last time i stated anything on this forum, ill just wait for it to come out and see for myself... And Mark, lets not hope they make a spacejockey vs. predator, cause then i have to kill myself.

However, I think there's been enough rumours and official news by now that it's probably safe to say that Xenomorphs will make an appearance, in one form or another. Remember the mural, reports from the sets about exoskeleton-ish creatures? I trust Ridley that he's doing the right thing, that it'll be sophisticated and satisfy old as well as new fans. Nevertheless, it's always interesting to look at things in different ways and I can see where you're coming from on this one.

i dont even rekon that the two alien ships are the same. the ship in alien is not even on the same planet as the ship in prometheus. different atmosphere on both planets. in alien there was not even space to walk let alone drive a vehicle. something goes wrong. why would the sj want to propegate or spread a hostile species? they set up a warning beacon for frack sake. i rekon the sj assimilate other species and turn them into sj. but they tried to assimilate a species that did not want to be assimilated an d you get the aliens as a result. like the sj use organic nano bots to change other creatures. i just think from the clips that the sj and whats left of their culture dies in this film. the info that the prometheus crew discover is kept by the company. so when they find the derelict ship they have enough info to know what it means and then re direct the nostromo. ridley said the film has strands of alien dna. but this is all. ridley is making an original film and starting a whole seperate mythology. what happened in the alien films is gonna be just a foot note. i cant wait to see how this goes anyway. i've been following scotts movies since 1978 and i just know that everyone is right off the mark. and dont forget damon lindelof. this is gonna be fresh and a treat.

@alphatechsungun: Well said, I can only second that. Ridley brought ALIEN, the remastered directors cut back on screen in 2003 and stated in an interview that he wanted to set a reminder of where all those poor attempts of creating sci-fi horror took their inspiration from. Now with Prometheus he's even going a step further, setting another, even stronger reminder but also starting something new, which I find more than just exciting... EDIT: But back on the original topic, I think there's no reason for him to mislead us all with this particular scene, I do not believe this is connected with the original Space Jockey in ALIEN. In my opinion it is far too obvious that there's a distinct hole right in its chest.

Whether or not the 2 ships are the same is irrelevant........its the idea that it wasnt the chestburster (which is what i meant sorry) didnt actually exsist in the first place OR that it wasnt a chestburster that came from the SJ rather his chest inexplicably exploded. I wonder if in 20 years time......Ridley will say "The Space Jockey has been done to death" and then goes off on yet another completely different tangant.

Ridley and Damon said this : the end of Prometheus will be a link to Alien , and if they will made a "prometheus 2" (sounds crap !) , it won't be placed between Prometheus and Alien , it will a new franchise , based on a new universe , an other time, cause during the script/plot writing process , too many great ideas were emerging. I take that from the French ( I am ) magazine "l'écran fantastique" special Prometheus , 90 pages full of interviews from Ridley , Damon , and set/make up artist on the film.

Ridley wouldn't be that stupid, surely not. If the 'damage' of the original SJ would have been all across its body/suit, then it might have been a possiblity. In fact I believe that this whole scene will be something Prometheus' plot will be pivoting around, but he'll answer that question briefly, then swiftly moving on and put it to rest to take us all on a new journey. That also goes for himself I'd say. In 20 years time he'll smoking cigars in a posh carehome in the tranquil British countryside. LOL

Well......if hes not finally going to tell me where the SJ or XENO came from....and leave it to my own imagination then why bother making Prometheus? Why not just leave it to our imaginations? Shaw isnt the only one thats looking for that definative answer. I am too. Ive waited 30 years to see where the Alien came from.....looks like ill have to wait another 30 years lol....... Mark, why are you suddenly so negative about Prometheus? I think from what we've all seen so far, including the viral marketing, he's done a brilliant job! And even if he doesn't answer those questions in all detail, I'm more than happy just about the fact he's back in the genre he helped defining, and taking it to a new level! The only thing I would hold against him is that if he doesn't even hint to answers to those questions, he'd been lying in all those featurettes and interviews, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I'm sure this new direction he's taking will be amazing, but I have to admit that it would be great to see some 'easter eggs' along the journey, at least at the beginning, if it's done properly. I'd even accept something like seeing the Nostromo under construction in a dock, but not having a CGI version of Dallas running around. That'd be it for me as well then...

I really don't think space jockeys would turn other species in SJ. It would be too dangerous for their own survive, but yes , they have bio weapons to protect themselves. And the 2 ships are the same , Ridley told it in an interview. He said the walls are not the same cause in prometheus , the derelict is in good shape , fonctionnal ( so it can't be called "derelict" ) , whereas in Alien the ship had been abandonned for 30 years (derelict then). Concerning the hole in its chest , my thoughts are : Shaw (maybe) managed to infect the jockey with a bioligical weapon (from urns braught back to the prometheus). This weapon is an organism capable to assimilate parts of its hosts DNA , and when "chestbursting" , turning in the Alien queen , the first being of its kind , then put eggs in her new home. I think all of this won't appear at the end of the film , cause Ridley said that the end of prometheus will lead to Alien , but with an open end.

@Mark Cawley You seem very confused, as do others here. Alien was straight forward...something burst out of the SJ's chest, through it's suit and then layed the eggs. Must have been some Mother! That would be some extraordinary coincidence for his chest to have randomly burst open for no reason, as opposed to a chestburster. RS said there will be a way for us to connect the dots to the events found in Alien. Also, Shaw is not trying to find out what happened on LV-426 or the Nostromo because humans haven't been to that planet yet (that we are aware of), and the Nostromo incident didn't occur yet. Also, I'm pretty confident that because they are on two different planets, and have two distinct design features, that they are NOT the same ship. I could be wrong (obviously), but I'm curious.

the part you're leaving out though with regard to the original SJ from Alien is that shortly after they inspect the hole in his chest they notice the melted hole in the floor (undoubtedly caused by acid blood). this is the same hole that Kane went down which lead him to the egg chamber

I don't see how what killed the SJ in Alien cannot be from the eggs below the derelict. When Kane is lowered below to investigate, he walks along the raised divider, then slides down the side of it to the floor. At that point, in that very shot, when Kane is on his hands and knees, right there in front of him is a collapsed egg sac, on the floor. It's been there all these years folks...Kane doesn't notice it. By the way, those are bones bent outward, not a suit...continuity, continuity...all will be revealed....I have faith in Riddles

Well there are many holes in every theory there are many in what Ridley has said, many things he says are not 100% correct many things he said change and contradict each other.... maybe he wrote the Bible? What i mean is he says one thing, then changes it in later interviews is he setting us all on a wild goose chase? Onto the Topic.... How can a Face Hugger implant anything into the Space Jockey with that mask on? Unless its implanted before he sets off (my idea) and think of Shaws Scene where she goes off to remove her Baby rather than let Weyland etc get it. Or on the ship, A face hugger escapes, the Engineer goes to investigate without his mask and gets Face Hugged.... now here is the problem. When you get Face Hugged it stays on your face for what like a day or so. Does the ship fly on course while our Engineer has the Face Hugger Coma for a day, he wakes up after Face Hugger falls off and done its job, he would know he has been implanted and knows his time is short and so he gets back into the chair with his mask back on and then Pilots the Derelict to land on LV426..... However if the Engineer knows something got lose he would know how dangerous it was and surely not take his mask off. There is no evidence that the Face Hugger got into the mask, unless he had a spare. Dallas did not know what those Eggs was, or what would happen you would assume the Pilot does.... unless those Eggs get layed after he is Face Hugged. This got me to think orginally that Shaw and David unleash the Squid Baby on the Jockey..... but after seeing some more info that Ridley gave out this would make Prometheus a Direct Prequel. You see Ridley says some things that dont add up.... he and landorf said this movie is how the Mommy meets Daddy which would imply the Squid is the Proto Xeno and then either laid Eggs, or implanted something into the SJ which then burst out and laid the Eggs. This = Alien Prequel, also why create a Organism like the Squid and Story about Shaw and what she goes through purely to use as just the Xeno Pregenitor? Ridley then goes and says that the Derelict is Millions of years old, and that it had to make a unscheduled landing on LV426 because one of the Egg Cargo got lose. Which brings us to how does it Face Hug him with his mask on? and also that something laid or made those Eggs before the Derelict sets off and Millions or years... i think that means its not Shaws Baby.... I have a different theory..... Blue Guy is the nasty Engineer who has a disagreement with his brothers he gone all mad scientist, and unleashes and maybe creates the Xeno on his brothers. Look at the holes in the Sarcophagus and then the Giger Xeno Cycle, this Blue Meanie has maybe tried to do and sucseeded what Burke tried in Aliens to Ripley and Newt. This Blue Guy Meanie, knows if he kills off his brothers then in this part of the Galaxy he is the onlyone left and thus they are not Gods... but he becomes God. But one Engineer carrying a Chest Burster manages to escape and get to where the Eggs are stored and then takes the Derelict and its Cargo out of harms way. Only he then feels that the Chest Burster is comming and sets down on LV426 with a warning. This also has holes though lol as is that warning to any others who survive? The other way could be that the Xeno they created or found, went on the lose and nearly killed them off and that one Engineer was tasked with taking the Eggs somewhere off LV223 once they contained the outbreak. This Engineer then sets off the warning becon to warn the others that he has had to land as the Cargo has become compremised.

Just to point something out... Ridley himself stated he never intedend for their to be a queen that laid eggs when he create Alien. In the movie the Xeno did something to the crew that changed them into eggs. I don't think Prometheus is going to negate the Queen/Hive aspect of the Xeno, however it's obvious from all the footage that the mutation/alteration and spontaneous creation of violently evolving life is what the theme is and the Xeno's are just one "stable" off shoot.

@Dave b, Syphonox is probably correct that the spores or eggs were present on the Juggernaut or derelict if Ridley Scott elects not to misconstrue his own canon. Just to para-phrase Mr. Scott from ( Alien 30th Anniversary Edition ): '' but the theory was, in my head was, this was, a... an aircraft carrier, a battle wagon, of a civilisation and the eggs were a cargo which were essentially weapons...''. I am of course reiterating information that has been previously discussed numerous times. My own personal belief from the onset 33 years ago were the spores were in a suspension or stasis but I have been wrong. Take care everyone.
