MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 8:40 AMI have always wondered what became of the creature that burst out of the Space Jockey on LV-426. It must be around somewhere and would be quite large. Is this the Queen in Aliens? Any thoughts?

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 8:56 AMI'm sure she's'not though. Timeline issue Besides what did she feed on until the nostromo crew happened upon the sj. I believe this was discussed before. Btw awesum theories here we got some pretty talented screen writers waiting to chestburst onto the scene. Lol.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 9:52 AM@Vixen Well, that is still highly possible to me. Was there ever a life span discussed for the alien Xeno? They could possibly hibernate for decades waiting on hosts, just my thoughts.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:04 AM@microsis According to Veronica Cartwright in an interview, if you go by what Giger had intended the Alien would only have a lifespan of about 3 or 4 days (might have been a week) Giger had said that the dark color of the Alien is bruising.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:09 AMIf that's the case how were so many aliens alive on LV-426 when the Marines got there? They had to travel in hyper sleep to get there, and Newt looked like she had been scavenging for weeks alone before help arrived. ...That seems off

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:12 AMAnd why didnt Ripley want to go investigate the Space Jockey ship?
She knew its co-ordinates......surely that would have been the first
stop.....to destroy the eggs first.
But as usual....no mention of it.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:20 AMRight on, Microsis! You make some good points, vixen, but I think the Alien SF/Fantasy environment is a natural for open-ended theories on all levels. Just looking at the 4 films plus AVP shows how varied the worlds of Alien can be. I believe each film contributed its' own, valid additions to the mythology. It is fantastic that 33 years later a great director/writer combo can add to it and address some of the original unanswered questions.
The writers of Dark Horse comics and various novels have all done great things through the decades but I am Banking on Prometheus to be the ultimate fan payoff!
There has been a great deal of thoughtful discussion on this site and I am enjoying it thoroughly. Thanks to everybody! Keep it going!

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:23 AMI was thinking about this the other day. We will probably see what bursts out of the SJ either in this movie or Prometheus 2. Ridley Scott did say he had enough story material for a second movie, so to me that implies that the end of this movie doesn't exactly lead right up to the events preceding Alien. Only in that sense do I think Ridley Scott gets away with saying that this isn't a prequel. Perhaps a potential Prometheus 2 is the real prequel to Alien.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 10:33 AMThe Queen was sort of modeled on the idea of a hive type of society.
"Queens"... whether bee, termite, ant... whatever, live for a VERY long time.
The worker or drone classes however have very short life spans.

MemberDeaconMar-31-2012 10:38 AMBut then you have to ask....
We just dont know if the Space Jockey Ship was the only places those Eggs was laid?
I guess this movie may answer that, it would be logical to conclude the ship was the only place hence the containment field.
I guess its something we maynot know about as far as how Eggs got there and what happened to the SJ Chestbuster.
But i have a feeling this movie will not exactly tell us or show us, but leave it open.
In which a Part 2 could touch up on it slightly but more likely also bring more depth to the Space Jockey Race

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 11:48 AMRemember, Giger had nothing to do with Aliens. Whatever happens on LV-426 in Aliens is manufactured by Cameron. If Giger says it only lives for 4 days, then that's how long it lives as far as I'm concerned.

CanadaPhil
MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 12:38 PMYeah... but like it or not, you are going be forever stuck with Cameron's sequel.
Its fully enshrined in the mythos now, so everyone will just have to deal with that.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 1:42 PMI highly doubt its the Queen. I've heard Ridley had nothing to do with any aspect of the Queen. Other directors created her for a simply explanation of how the Alien eggs got there. I don't feel this is the true reason at all ...and that the real theory may be explained in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 3:25 PMwhat the hell do you think it looked like? must have been a big sucker if it is a space jockey Xeno
In AVP the queen can lay dormant for centuries...I would imagine the drones too but...
...if this is Gigers/Ridleys universe then yes it would have died within 4 days...the body was lying in a tunnel somewhere
...of course none of this is real lol

MemberOvomorphMar-31-2012 5:17 PMYou fight against it in Aliens: Infestation after crashing into the Derelict, here´s a pic:

But Infestation is based on Aliens, so it´s more a Cameron-like explanation.

MemberOvomorphApr-01-2012 2:42 AMI remember picking up a comic years (and years) ago that had the SJ's Alien in it. I can't really remember much about it, I didn't buy it just a quick flick through while I was in the shop.
I do remember it was big and white and was now some-kind of guardian in-side the derelict. It killed other 'normal' aliens, saving the humans zzzzzz...... yeah that's why I didn't buy it
