It is the smaller ship that goes after the engineer vessel. In both shots the extra craft is in pursuit. The shot of the impact shows two thrusters hitting and that little ship has two thrusters right up front.
Edit: okay the "smaller ship" is the prometheus but the other ship looks like more than a lifeboat

no, there is a very clear shot of the Prometheus crashing into it, i need to find it hold on..............

this says it all :D

Biehn_BanditMarch 31, 2012
Yep, front lower thrusters and rear high thtrusters. That's the Pro
Btw, I want a model kit of it.

Mr.JMarch 31, 2012
I really curious to see what NECA is going to come out with....perhaps the Derelict model too....

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
What is the Larger human ship then. It obviously dwarfs the Prometheus.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Mr.JMarch 31, 2012
The smaller ship is the shuttle, like the Nostromo had, just bigger to accommodate more people...the picture is out of perspective, the shuttle is in the foreground as the Prometheus is far away, climbing after the Derelict.

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
One trailer image is inverted from the other, but in both images the smaller ship is closer to the Engineer ship.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

I really want a model of the Prometheus after this post, but if it's not available in 1:1 scale, I'd probably be pretty disappointed.

David vs Ash
The trailers seem to indicate that Prometheus is going to be more focused on "why" Ash was in cryosleep with the rest of the crew than about the Space Jockey and his (its) race.
It appears that androids are the new technology in this film. David is a known android. Ash was hidden, which indicates that people were not receptive to androids, especially being so "human" in appearance.
David is "awake" and caring for the Prometheus crew. They know he exists.
I keep feeling as if this story is going to be more of " David" than "Jockey".
I certainly hope i'm wrong!
At any rate...
I do hope Prometheus provides us with a few thought provoking answers to the "Companys" decisions as well as provides even more thought provoking questions until it leads us FINALLY to the ALIEN.

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
That's not an EEV. It may be another part of the Prometheus, but it isn't a lifeboat.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Did someone say the prometheus Model ??????????????
my ears are on ...can you pre - order

royal-jellyMarch 31, 2012
i don't think it's the life vessel. it could be that they're only showing the front of the prometheus ship ramming the derelict

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
That would be awesome. I havent built a vehicle model in years.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
@ royal jelly. I am wondering what the ship in the foreground is. Due to my faulty spatial reasoning, I thought it was the Prometheus, and the four thrustered ship was a shuttle.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Biehn_BanditMarch 31, 2012
I don't even really like the Prometheus design, but all those bits of panelling and surface detail look fun to mess around with. Anyone here versed in engineering that can tell us if the design makes sense or is feasible?

BiomechanicMarch 31, 2012
It's a VTOL so with some suspension of disbelief about how it produces thrust it is technically feasible.

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
If it is a ship that is supposed to be viable in Earth similar atmospheres, I don't think the design is aerodynamically viable, but if the propulsion system can compensate for that "the bumblebee still flies"
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Destroying expensive star ships in the Alien series seems to a running theme.

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
@arcaneradio thats minus payload of course.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Biehn_BanditMarch 31, 2012
Ron Cobb is an amateur engineer who thinks about all those things, and has enough knowledge to make his designs plausible. I wonder if they have anyone like that among the design team, or are they just movie artists?

want-to-see-prometheusNOW!March 31, 2012
Why would he even show these scenes in the trailer. I don't want to know in advance that they crash their ship into a space jockey vessel. I want it to be a surprise. The trailer is too revealing. Sorry to complain, but this is my honest feeling.

Myrddin365March 31, 2012
@NOW! Im with you, but it looks like they have a backup, But lets be honest. I don't think anyone is making it home..
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Biehn_BanditMarch 31, 2012
I'm going to laugh (and rejoice) if all the SJ/Prometheus crew stuff is only about half the running time or less, and there is a whole bunch of stuff after or before that.

silicaMarch 31, 2012
What if this is not really an action movie? But they have to sell it to action movie fans, and so they put a few really big action sequences in as teasers? It would have been hard to make an action movie trailer out of Alien.

mw3March 31, 2012
i don't think them crashing their ship into the space jockey ship is at the end of the film i think it hapends mid way in the film. i think the is still lots that go's on after the prometheus go's black hawk down.i think the space jockey in the ship that crashers back to the planet trys to take the humen ship that we see in the pic upabove to finish there plan...i'm probly rong ha
mister meMarch 31, 2012
The scene you speak of is a clip from the end of the movie. The damaged android sends a signal to the ship to home in and hit. He also instructs it to leave a drop ship for the two who escape. You can see these two fleeing as large debris hits the ground. The alien ship vapourises leaving no trace.
On one of the Moons is another craft...we hear a scream of anger and fear as it meets it new creation.

@ncc1701 ...
I with ya on that one ... great looking ship ...
Notice how weird that Weyland-Yutani are pasted all over the model drawing of the Nostromo when they wern't actually merged when the ship was in service ... bit of a mistake there? ...
Also if you look at the Nostromo plans you can see the basic shape for Prometheus ... the VTOL thrusters have been improved ...
Another thing ... out of the Alien/s movies, Promethus is the only ship to be named as the movie itself ...

Not_my_intentionMarch 31, 2012
fun fact, the nostromo was named after a book, and the sulako was a town in that book :)
