Watching the trailer at the behest of another post regarding a sound effect borrowed from the original film. At the moment when someone asks, "What is that?" I froze the trailer. Has anyone seen the photos off camera with Scott and various members of the cast standing in front of a very interesting sculpted black chair? That chair is affixed to the outside of the dias facing inward directly in front of the small recess where the globe appears before the star map pops into view. In the scenes with the blue man circling the dias you can only see the back of this chair peeking out over the rim opposite the cameras POV. I wonder if the chair somehow reads the DNA of it's occupant and displays their origin. http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/prometheus-ridley-scott-set-image.jpg Here is a rear view of the chair and the surrounding equipment powered up. Note the small track on the floor that would allow the chair to slide back away from the dias allowing the occupant to exit. Not sure what aspect of it makes you think it's a DNA-reader. I think what you might be hinting at is that they figure out who we are/what we're made of/where we're from? One assumes they could do that telepathically, but maybe stupid David does it for them by plucking Earth out of the Orrery. That big child. They wouldn't need our DNA to figure out where we're from, then... or are you going somewhere else with this?

I suggest that because in the trailer immediately following the machinery in front of the chair lighting up the star map pops into view. I'm just pointing out that that PROP is featured in these scenes and where it's positioned and what's happening in the immediate area. Until now all the focus has been on the pilots chair. Nobody has even mentioned this other piece of Gigeresque furniture. Also when they first enter the Orrery room nobody is there. If you saw this chair in an inert room curiousity might make you sit in it as well, having just trekked 37.8 LY's.

Oh, i don't know...i typically don't try the porridge when I enter an unknown bear's house, but, i know...they won't make children read the Brothers Grimm in the future. Not good for them.

Yes, but I am also interested in why you say DNA? I'm not sure what your actual point is. I see it and think, "That's a chair and it's probably there so the occupant can operate the panel that seems to be in front of it in some kind of comfort". It does seems to be a Bridge of sorts, after all - one might expect there to be a chair in it. As a matter of fact, I'm actually a little surprised there aren't a few more places to sit - I mean, the place only seems to accommodate one alien at a time which must be some kind of joke. The whole environment looks really quite frightfully uncomfortable, no wonder they'd be in a bad mood. Anyhow, I'd like to know what your rationale is - why do you see that chair and think, "That's a DNA scanning chair in order to determine the occupants origin"? And what are you suggesting the objective of that might be?

Oh come on you lot.....its easy. Someone sits in the BIG chair and whoever is in the LITTLE chair can read the DNA and likely locations of the person in the BIG chairs origins in the galaxy. Or perhaps they just need to sit down like us lol.
