MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 10:34 PM If you look ay the scales of the original SJ and the new one, they may look the same but are different in size.It also is accepted that it is bio-mechanical,so the chair and controls will fit whoever sits there. Not only that,we have yet to see the FULL PROCESS of the transformation of pilot and ship.Let's take that into consideration. If it does grow,it would be rapid, faster than a normal lifespan, hence a faster decay! Also, perhaps the Derelict in Alien continued to metamorphisize after it crashed, that would explain the different look of not only the ship but the SJ as well.
The size difference of the pilots might be because of this, but I believe the SJ in Prometheus is a human that was stranded/left and the Derelict was the only way off the planet.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 9:08 AMI almost wish you hadn't mentioned it as it's one of the few things I doubt any time at all will be wasted in trying to explain away: they are, quite clearly, of noticeably different scales - but practically, what are you going to do?
The Space Jockey was huge.
It already seems they've got the biggest man they could find and are also filming him cleverly to make him look even bigger - and he's still a bit small compared to the original.
After that, what? Go CGI?
I will give Scott a break on it.
As he made Alien, he didn't have to worry about and didn't have the luxury of time to spend thinking about, how, exactly, that huge being would have to be represented in any prequel, that he might be making 30 years later - that would have been a lifetime away. It seems a bit much to ask of the man.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 9:19 AMThey mightve just chosen to ignore the size aspect so one of the crew is able to pilot the ship and move the story along if indeed one of the SJs arent still alive. Its clear the alien ship ends up being piloted and I think its by one of the crew.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 5:19 PM I agree in the fact that it's not a monumental detail and it will not ruin ruin the movie for me at all, however, being a geeky fanboy since 1979,I have always wondered-as most of us have-what the story behind him is.Now that we have a return to this story, every option is enjoyably on the table.I wouldn't be surprised if things like this are purposely in there just for the discussion value.
