MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 1:27 AMDo you think the Weyland TED talk should be shown to moviegoers before the movie begins?

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 1:29 AMNo. It's a cool bit on its own, but unless they integrate it into the film it's just for the fans.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 2:19 AMIf it's left out, it remains special for the fans of this generation and doesn't occupy important space needed to keep other bits in the movie from being cut.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 4:17 AMIt looks too important to NOT be in the movie..........i think it IS in the movie.......probably just after the cave paintings. You know, the build up to the project.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 5:18 AMi think that was made for 3 reasons
1) to give Guy Pearce more acting satisfaction ..probably in the movie he will have just limited screen time
2) to link a bit more the movie to the alien universe , it help to build a background ( along with all the informations on the weyland website )
3) It give the "canon" guys and geeks in general alot to talk , distracting them from the real plot .I dont think the company will have all that importance in the movie , is just a very solid background ... you need a solid and concrete background if you want to fly in other direction or themes .

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 6:57 AMI actually think this is going to be the very first 3 minutes of the film.
You have to remember that a HUGE portion of people seeing this movie will have NEVER seen nor even heard of the "TED Talk".
I think it is a very important clip for giving some insight into the founder of the corporation concerned and to illustrate just how driven the guy is.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 8:18 AMIt's so essential, I'd say it must be part of the actual film.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 12:44 PMI like your thoughts, Frantz. I think we are dealing with the best of marketing pros when it comes to keeping a film under wraps, even during advertising and media phase. While we're on the subject, I don't buy that actress, her name escapes me, that has been quoted as saying she dies 28 minutes into the film, getting eaten by a skeletal-shaped alien. THAT - is a ruse. They would not let something like that slip if it were true. She may be the sleeper everyone is looking over in the plot.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 12:57 PMWhen the Weyland TED talk was first released, Lindelof stated in interviews that it was thought up on a whim by himself and Ridley as a cool way to market the film.....I would seriously doubt, based on those comments, that this will be in the film.....It would be cool though for them to slip it in with the trailers before the movie...have it be the last one played just before the movie starts.....I don't think it's necessary for people to see it, but it gives a great deal of insight into the film's potential corporate undercurrents...

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 3:21 PMI suspect that it may be included as part of a extended bits in the super duper extended blue ray.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 3:23 PMI concur with Frantz on this one and want to add, for general Hype & Mktg. Purposes as well.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 3:25 PMNo, it will not be required for the movie. It doesn't even tell you anything.
