MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 5:35 AMHey gang...don't know if anyone had mentioned it before...apologies in advance if so but, on the Weyland Site on the Investor Information link there is a list of Earth Resources.
Most of the list is unremarkable but, I noticed a handful of materials there that are fictional. Adamantine, Carmot, Eitr, Orichalcum, and Tridium are the ones I'm talking about.
Adamantine is a very hard metal/material.
Carmot is also known as Philosopher's Stone.
Orichalcum is a metal of Atlantean origin, second in value only to gold.
Tridium - no hits on searches on this spelling.
Eitr is the most interesting in relation to Prometheus as it is described as the "substance from which all life springs" according to Norse mythology. Additionally this substance is described as "supposed to be very poisonous and is also produced by Jörmungandr (the Midgard serpent) and other serpents". Since the storyline of Prometheus seems to deal with our origins it's especially interesting to see it mentioned. The reference to poison and serpents is another interesting possible tie in with the plot.
Don't know if these will play a role in the story but thought it interesting they showed up on the Weyland site.
Cheers!

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 6:58 AMIt's very interesting and I think it's related to the code of one of the three prometheus images to unlock.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:32 AMAlthough tridium does not exist, a very similar substance called tritium does.
is it possible that tridium is tritium?
tritium: A rare radioactive hydrogen isotope with atomic mass 3 and half-life 12.5 years, prepared artificially for use as a tracer and as a constituent of hydrogen bombs.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:37 AMYou forgot to mention the most significant thing. The graph also lists the rarity of each of those elements. Eitr is the rarest, which more than likely also makes it the one Weyland is most interested in.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:40 AMDid a little poking around, Carmot is what the philosophers stone is said to be composed of. It's more earthly links are a corporation that is currently heavily invested in cancer research. One of the things that Weyland did according to his timeline is to receive accolades for his revolutionary cancer treatment.

AdminPraetorianApr-09-2012 10:36 AMInteresting; "Eitr is a mythical substance in Norse mythology. This liquid substance is the origin of all living things, the first giant Ymir was conceived from eitr. The substance is supposed to be very poisonous and is also produced by Jörmungandr (the Midgard serpent) and other serpents". O_O

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 1:02 PM@ghost do you reckon rarest means most precious? it could be rare but at the same time useless

Juxtapose
MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 1:35 PM@ the coming....why even mention something rare and useless....seriously no sense in that...in fact why even list something useless...rare or not!
