MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:03 AMI think I have worked out at least a part of what Prometheus may be about. The SJ's did not visit earth since the time of ancient civilization, because there was some kind of extinction event on the planet the Prometheus ship visits.
They Bio engineered humans, in their own liking, to store most of their DNA, to react with what ever are in those vials.
I dont think the planet is LV426, I think that the Derelict Dallas finds in Alien, is just another Space Jockey ship, just thousands of years old... like the civilisations are where the stone tablets are found, revealing the star maps.
The star maps were left by the SJ race, so their creation (man) could find them to restart their civilisation at a later date. Say, once the planets air became breathable again, after the Extinction event. That would tie in with the first words spoken on the trailer "A king has his reign, and then he dies, it's inevitable"
Once man has served his purpose, there is no need for humans to exist, they have done their job. Hence, the SJ try to go to Earth to wipe humans out.
That is my take on it anyway..

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:18 AMYou're definitely on to something here. And now you got me thinking as well.
What if the aliens that visited us billions of years ago were not the space jockeys. What if they were another civilization destroyed by the space jockeys on that planet. That could explain why we found some bodies in the cave. At the same time, the space jockey race for some reason was becoming extinct. That could have something to do with why they need us and why they are leaving for our planet. Then again..................., I don't know. lol
Let's just keep putting our heads together fellas, keep bouncing ideas. Maybe will get closer and closer to solving this puzzle of a film.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 10:02 AMI wouldn't mind that kind of plot if it was done correctly. If the engineers are terraformers they do need some way of prepping a place for later habitation. The only hole in that is humans do tend to hurt their enviroment. Would the engineers know that or be worried about leaving a planet they worked on in the hands of humans that could char the earth and make it uninhabitable.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 1:05 PMI don't think so.
Listen to Ridley Scott's words. "They find a civilization that does some very uncivilized things".
Your speculation is way off.

Yeah, using human beings as DNA containers and killing them after use definitely sounds civilized.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 4:29 PMYou are on to something. It may be plausible they find different planets and ships. The problem with this idea or the ideas I bear in mind is: Why do we have the visitors and the stelar maps?
I can not find a plausible explanation. We need to start from there, like the film's expedition.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:02 PMI think I could be right in part. It is not set on LV426 at least. As for the other thing I wondered, about humans being needed to restart the SJ race at a later date, I noticed something written in the transcript of the Q&A after the 12 minute preview earlier.
Micheal Fassbender speaks about his Android character, and hints that maybe humans could be pre programmed at set to a timer too.
Just a few more thoughts..
