The first thing Vickers asks David. "Did anyone die in Hypersleep?"
Clue much? Just saying...

well, i'm sure ppl actually DO die occasionally in hypersleep. Esp. with a crew of 17, one might expect a casualty, even. Doubt it means anything...

Ripleys-KnickersApril 23, 2012
I will just add to that by asking people to think, how many other characters in the Alien movies (including the original) puke up when they wake up?
Ripleys-KnickersApril 23, 2012
Vickers is allready up doing exercises while everyone else is throwing up.. She is an android too.. Her and David know PW is on the ship...

@allinamberclad
it may be an edit/censorship like they do on a lot of trailers that replace a PC word over a curse word. maybe in the movie they do say weyland?

I have been wondering about Yutani-so many hints in the synopsis-one talked of 2 corporations controlling natural resources.Vickers could be a plant from Yutani-or the other thing is Yutani might be there or in some type of arms race with Weyland. One other thing, much is said about corporate corruption and wealthy Weyland the evil man,a plot twist may be that he has good intentions and maybe Yutani doesn't.

Hi big pig April 23, 2012
Are we sure vickers is an android? Pretty cool if true. When do they (vickers model) go on sale in the US? I need one maybe two

allinambercladApril 23, 2012
That doesn't seem to stand:
that would be to suggest that David knows she's talking about Weyland and therefore knows that he's there, [if he is]?
If David knows she's talking about Weyland, why would she not just name Weyland, rather than "anyone" - they are the only two awake?
If David doesn't know she's talking about Weyland, then she'd be wasting her time asking him about Weyland, as David wouldn't know what she'd be talking about, in any other sense than the crew.
She must be speaking, generally.
abordoliApril 23, 2012
So I guessed correctly in that Verizon thing when I stated "Vickers is an android in need of recharging".....The recharging bit was wrong unless these early models need recharging unlike Ash who seemed to consume food.

allinambercladApril 23, 2012
@belladonna
It is an interesting proposal that you make.... but I very much doubt it likely: a censor edit to omit foul language is a very different thing than changing the entire premise and bearing of a scene, that would fundamentally affect the Plot and actually ultimately play out totally differently in the Feature?
I'd argue that would play very badly with an audience and that it is cheap storytelling and just bad film-making...I don't see Scott ever playing that role.
I think he'd be more likely to omit the scene or reference to the matter, altogether.

reffugeeApril 23, 2012
I don't get why so many people want Weyland to be on board the Prometheus. I think if this is true it would really slow down the pacing of the film, and cause confusion for those not so familiar with Alien franchise. If he is stowed away on the ship they would have to backtrack and explain why. Couldn't he have just a cameo as a hologram?

Hi big pig April 23, 2012
It's not that I want him on board, it's just that we've seen him in a space suit. Want him or not.... He's there

Alien DNAApril 23, 2012
We're also talking about a scene that was in a screening shown to a select audience, which if Ridley wanted to could omit or edit Weylands name as we can't know for sure if there was any editing done. However I am in agreement that it's more likely not edited and a reference to the crew. If Weyland is on board than I'm sure both David and Vickers would be the ones to know about it if being kept secret. Having an unnamed elderly person in the background off the hangar bay is a more solid piece of evidence than Vickers comment to David as proof of Weyland being on board.
BTW how is Vickers doing push ups proof of her being an android, disproves it more than anything. so and shows her to be a disciplined hard ass. I still think she could turn out to be a second android, but that's not proof enough for me.

belladonnaApril 23, 2012
@ allinamberclad ACTUALLY sadly in the US i have seen many scenes and lines that were spoken in a movie on the trailer for tv and i went to see the movie for that reason and they NEVER showed it! i figured it would be in the dvd but i rented the "uncut" DVDS and nope, they put in a scene for the comercial that wasnt even in the F-ING movie!
its angering but i wouldnt put it past em to do the same thing to this movie.

Couldn't this be Holloway who is aging at a rapid pace, which would explain why what he impregnates Shaw with grows at a rapid pace.

silicaApril 23, 2012
yes, but that's likely a scene where they just return from their first trip to the mound. he's trying to convince the crew to let them back inside. I don't think he's aged in this scene, its just a funny picture - probably because of the green screen.
PredatordreadsApril 23, 2012
It has to be Weyland. From everything that i have gathered from when this movie was an idea i have always kept in my mind that Ridley Scott said this movie is going to be about gods and engineers. Weyland my be the one to challenge the engineers and steel their tech to reverse aging or give him more life. What is Great about Guy Pearce is that he is awesome at playing a pompous eliteist. The TED video really displayed that he is portrayed as a meglomaniac. I COULD BE WAY OFF THOUGH SO DONT BUST MY BUTT PLEASE.

ChimeraApril 23, 2012
Shaw: We were wrong.....we were so wrong!!! - meaning: Wrong about trusting Weyland and the Corporations intentions upon going to LV-223.
Upon recognizing Weylands true intentions of the mission (to steal the Engineer's technology and immortality) Shaw acts quickly to sabotage the mission remembering how her father tried to help stop the Evil Empire of Weyland Industries and what they did to him for it!
Weyland is aboard and he will need the body guards to keep safe from Shaw's wrath for using her and her scientist teammates to get what he wants.
TokyokidApril 23, 2012
There are three pictures floating around and one clue floating around that point to Wayland being on the ship.
Two pictures are of an elderly looking guy in a space suit while mercs are shooting guns. A third picture is of an elderly looking guy in a wheelchair. It could be a guy transformed by the engineers.
One clue is the Verizon add saying Vicker's suite has a secret room and draws a lot of power.
The hologram of the old Weyland may be a red herring.
Or, the old guy could be Holloway. Holloway has some kind of infection with the tentacle wriggling in his eye. His face looks like it is melting too. The (fake) script mentioned Holloway aging rapidly....
Fassbender commented that the movie will give us bits of information through out the movie to keep us guessing. So, I think any theory is possible. and the Weyland is alive angle is at least probable.

FREEZE!April 23, 2012
One of the characters is an old man, safe to state that it is Guy Pearce. Otherwise someone gets to age quickly.

You would think if Weyland has found a cure for cancer he might have a cure for baldness?

The room marked X next to Vickers quarters on one of the Prometheus blueprints on the Verizon website is another clue. Why would Weyland want to go personally? My guess is, he knows more about the engineers than anyone else. Obviously close to the end of his life, and he knows he can gain access to technology to prolong it.
Ripleys-KnickersApril 24, 2012
Watch the IMAX trailer again, pause after Janek is counting down to Prometheus landing, just after he says 4. We see Vickers pushing David, pretty strong to do that for a human seeing as androids are supposedly have much more strength than humans. She is an android for sure.

SaintsSinphonyApril 24, 2012
in aliens Velasquez is doing chin ups right after hypersleep. So are some of the other marines. I've also stated before that Weyland funded this mission and everyone on this trip works for him so why would he have to hide. He could learn everything he needed from shaw and halloway on earth and then go himself with a group of mercenaries and some David 8s. I serioulsy don't think he is on board the prometheus and I don't think Vickers is an android.

SaintsSinphonyApril 24, 2012
and another thing, this subject has been talked about over and over and over. use the search feacture I'm about done coming here because every week it's the same thread posted over and over and over damn
NecrofanApril 24, 2012
Where was it -, on the website's investor information that the Prometheus mission is only funded 50% by Weyland industries; with 25% funding government and 25% private. Whoever the private investor is could provide a clue to Vickers' role on the mission.
I thought maybe Yutani.

MelkorApril 24, 2012
'PW is alive and on Prometheus' is the new 'this takes place on LV426/ Acheron'. NO. GP has said he is in the movie for 1 minute.
180924609April 24, 2012
I dont see much point in PW being on board.
Have you all seen that video of Weyland speaking about, ''the invention of fire and prometheus'' we dont see him once in any trailer.

NostromoApril 24, 2012
I'm all for reaching and speculation but how does "Did anyone die in Hypersleep?" come to mean "Peter Weyland is on the ship, clearly I'm referring to him". Is there a subtext I am missing here?

ChimeraApril 24, 2012
It is definitely Guy Pearce in the space suit being escorted by what seem to be body guards. There is no way I will believe differently after seeing the hi-res blown up.

allinambercladApril 24, 2012
@belladonna
Genuinely fascinating.
I can't argue with your direct experience - and I won't - but this is something I have never come across, myself. I am not in the US. It would seem things are different, there.
Do we remain speaking the same thing?
Were these changes or differences you describe, literally fundamental to the actual nature and direction of the Story, or just cosmetic differences?
Trailers are often different to the Feature cosmetically - but, in my experience- they very rarely allude to what is, effectively, a completely different story? This seems madness...
What I do note, is how cheated it made you feel: and if we are talking about structural misrepresentation - I would feel the same and, I imagine, so would any sane person interested in Film....I can't believe a serious film-maker, or one that wished to be taken seriously, would even dream of it - nor can I believe it something Ridley Scott would do, even if he were suffering mental collapse. We'll have to wait and see.
I also can't help wondering what films you're talking about and whether the Directors could actually have had a knowing hand in the choices your describing...
Meanwhile, the fact remains: Weyland may, or may not be aboard. I only point out that what Vickers says, as it stands, is, (of itself and simply by force of context), quite apparently, insufficiently conclusive to establish from it that Weyland is on board.
If there is strong evidence to suggest Weyland is on board, (which there may well be) - it must be somewhere and some, thing: else.
Ripleys-KnickersApril 24, 2012
I guess we will just have to wait and see if I am right... My money is on PW being on Prometheus allready, and the line where Vickers is asking "if anyone died" is in reference to that. Same kind of thing you notice if you watch a movie like Shutter Island again... You notice things said that "seemed like nothing" the first time around. It is how good stories are written...
As for making comparisons to me mentioning things like this to "It is on LV-426" I never once said that. infact, I started another thread on here before it was even confirmed it would not be set on LV-426 clearly stating that it would not be.
It is just a shame there are so many morons on this site that dont know things for sure themselves, but make out like they know the story, so everyone else to be wrong! haha! If they think they have seen a post similar one that was written before, why even look at the post they think is a duplicate, and then feel the need to comment on it too? lol Utterly stupid some people!

SaintsSinphonyApril 24, 2012
A stupid person would post the same type of thread that has been posted numerous times before. I guess you think what you have to say is more important than everyone else who speculated on the same thing. I don't know things for sure, I always said maybe, it's a possibility or whatever, never do I say I know for a fact.
People who post the same shit over and over on the forums and don't use the damn search function ruin this site for me. I don't care if Peter Weyland is on the ship or not but everday when I look through shit I want to read I've got to sort through more PW is on the prometheus.
And no one said you said it takes place on LV 426 that was in reference to how many people started the many useless post saying it would take place on lv 426 so you are the stupid one for not getting the joke
