MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:19 PMOK, today seems like the day I will have to start abandoning reading and speculating about this movie. A little too much information is starting to creep out. I could probably read the reviews of the new footage that was pre screened without it giving away the bulk of the story; and, all the suprises that lie within; but, I am starting to feel like I am sitting on the edge of cliff looking down as far as information is concerned.
How does everyone else feel?

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:25 PMI wish I were strong minded enough to avoid all the spoilers, though I must admit that all the spoilers I have read so far seem to me rather secondary. I avoid reading "leaked" scripts, and don't bother too much about heavy plot speculation, and even when I come across something that might be "big", I simply don't think too much about it.
But for visuals is a whole different story.
In any case, as of today, I still think that Prometheus is going to surprise me. I hope this feeling lasts until I get to watch it.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:28 PMI feel glued to my chair... wanting to know more everyday and without the slightest concern that it's ever going to ruin the movie for me at all.. Even if I was given a 100% script, watched dailys, and sat with Ridley whilst he expalined everything to me to the last detail, I would still be creaming in my pants when I watched the film.
Nothing is going too big or to small to know about the film at the moment and the closer we get the more I want to know. Some might say I'm impatient but I'm such a huge fan of ALL the Alien films and the AVP's too, this is just what we have all been waiting for prequal or not. Just knowing it's in the same relm as the Alien universe is enough for me to want to know everything there ever is.
Excited.. ummmmm yes much !!!

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:29 PMDon't be Afraid, Since Alien the first one, nothing like this had happen because when Prometheus is released every thing is gonna be very calm..
I enjoyed reading and speculating in fact is not the same reading than watching..

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:30 PMI feel the same way as noxword, nothing has really been divulged.
We knew of the squid/cuddles.
We knew possibly this would not take place on LV-426.
We knew David was alone on board for two and half years.
I'm still good!

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:02 PMI don't give a shit about spoilers. Every story has been told in one way or another so it is all execution and unique twists of personal style.
Spoilers don't ruin that for me. Film is about how they get from the beginning to the end. Not about what happens at the end.

alteredstate.
MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:09 PMThat's not strictly true if the film has a dramatic twist at the end and you know what it is that fucking ruins it for me . But hey each to their own i guess.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 8:24 PM@sevensisters: i am feeling the same way
i myself have planned to "go dark" 2 weeks before June,
given that in the web age we all live in, accidentally reading
spoilers is all too common
i did read the latest Q&A transcripts,
and i did so with a great deal of ambivalence, and after doing so,
i felt both guilty yet elated, so i am going to do my best to avoid
ANY / ALL reviews / spoilers near the end of May

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 10:11 PMI think this movie would be thematically richer than your typical scifi action adventure, too rich & complex that it would need at least 2hr 30 min/3 hr running time to cover its story & plot. With the new details on the characters David & Vickers, Weyland speeches, & V's monologue on reign of Kings, I would expect this movie to be more than just a monster-on-the-loose genre exercise. Expect a 4 hour director's cut on BluRay

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 11:04 PMI've read several movie story lines before they came out, and the film was never a disappointment because of it. Even if the full script was leaked, there would be plenty in the film that isn't on paper. Sometimes an explanation of what or why beforehand is a good thing. Unexplained can be fun for a few minutes, but not two weeks after seeing the movie.
Bring on the spoilers. There has been so much speculation already that I can't keep up. There will be plenty of surprises regardless.

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 5:15 AMI've enjoyed speculating and reading and wondering about everything, but yeah, discovering that they have let out actual footage of the film, I guess that is where I'm drawing the line. I don't want to see it, and don't want to read about it or speculate anymore. The best film experiences are ALWAYS those viewed as isolated from prior knowledge as possible.
I've watched every video on the blu-ray set this week, every BtS interview and film commentary. The idea that a film like Prometheus is being made at all, is completely surreal to me, emotional in the best of ways. Looking back at those Alien sets, and thinking back all those years, if anyone told me this would happen in 2012, it would have had me waiting and waiting with excited anticipation, for years.
Just 58 more days. I don't want to know anything else. I can't believe it's real and so close. I've had a lot of fun with all the posts and threads-- a lot of smart and very imaginative people. Would love to ride it out, but I don't think I can. I'll definitely be around if they release the score or anything of that nature prior to the release date.
Otherwise, looking forward to the big threads on June 8th!

Famished
MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 5:25 AMHad to avoid all the footage released today. Can't believe this film is a reality. Seems like only yesterday I was a little kid reading the novelization and dreaming about what an ALIEN film might look like in my head. All these years later, with a new dream, and it's only 58 more days away. Crazy.
Can't wait to talk about it on June 8th!
