Are we hurting Prometheus?

Nah, we are just having fun discussing a topic we all enjoy. I personally can't wait to see the movie, but it's not the highlight of my life. I never set my expectations too high so I am rarely let down. I love Ridley for his camera work and use of lighting etc. The movie is gonna be a feast for the eyes. :)

I'm super excited to see Prometheus,and I agree with Svanya... this has been a lot of fun just talking with like minded Alien fans! I hope to see Prometheus three or four times on the 8th when it comes out in the states! Woohoo!

I actually kind of thought that way. I had read info on this site for a while but only started posting a week or less ago for that reason but I realize people will just be black and white on some things and see no gray in the middle. Watching this movie is going to be awesome for me and I don't really mind what happens. There's not many movies I like to go see these days but this is one. Sure people freak out when they hear one thing or another but 99% of people going to see the movie aren't going to care. I just hope Im not sitting by that one guy who gets pissed at every little thing like I did during one of the Star Wars prequels. I didn't think Episode 2 and 3 were too bad but this one dude that I saw in the theatre got all mad and was asked to leave. It was really sad to see him so bent out of shape.

i think its the difference between a stupid fanboy geek and a normal person that love the movie ... Alien is not my life , its something that gave me joy-emotions-scares in my life ...if prometheus suck who cares , one lost chance but i will not cry over it .

My point was I don't think we are hurting the movie by talking about it and I don't think it hurts the movie when people get upset about a PG 13 or R rating.

@ Constealltion88: Well I care. Prometheus has to be R otherwise it will loose his credibility as a science fiction horror film! The complete Alien franchise is based on the fact that it -is- ScyFy horror. It cannot be a kids movie or some random action hero movie. Also it is directed by Ridley Scott (the director from the first Alien film and he is considered as one of the best directors of all time) so it has to be toplevel of directing. So to sum it all up; There has to be a very good base for a good storyline, the characters have to be very good otherwise it cant be measured as a "Alien" film. So the expectations are high. I, as a diehard Alien fan expects nothing but the best from Ridley Scott and I hope he doesnt dissapoint us because its the prequel of the century! If I dont get nightmares from this film then Ridley didnt do his job correctly.

Just imagine how many people in those theaters have never seen Alien, don't know it ties in with any other movie. For them it will be a fresh, untainted experience as long as we sit there and let them enjoy their money's worth. Before you scoff at the possibility, how many of you knew that a high percentage of audiences that saw Titanic didn't know it was based on an actual event?

I kid All in all I love the experience with all members speculations on leaked teaser information. Despite the fact I want the film to of been released already I'm still enjoying the ride along the way. Lost of intelligent members mashing their imaginations together creating intelligent speculations on this highly anticipated film. And honestly it's making me want to see it more! These past few days with the leaked pics and the 12 min intro release of Prometheus has sparked my interest tenfold. Ridley must be laughing at the attention one mere picture is having. He's released the perfect amount of info to allow us to ponder and speculate without ever knowing any "definitive" information concerning the secrets of the film.

I don't think the discussions on here are hurting Prometheus. Everybody is interested to see how Ridley Scott brings us back to the genre he helped to define. In the end, one can't please everybody. But, I do believe this film will be very good. I don't know of any other director who could pull a film of such great ideas and potential off.

I guess my point is that some people are still just now finding out about this movie. Like when i saw Hunger Games and Prometheus was the last trailer Before the film, I could HEAR the audiences' tension ( It was only the 1:10 length trailer BUT SOOO COOL TO SEE ON THE SCREEN). The ALIENesque intro, people got it, or there parents did, whatever it was great. My point is that i'd hate to see people turn away from this film because they dug a little deeper and found the wrong post. LAWLZ.

If people are easily distracted enough not to check the date of such posts before seeing the movie, I'm glad they're not occupying a cinema space where they might also be too distracted to turn off their darn mobiles.

....as chaotician Dr. Malcolm said in 'Jurassic Park', 'life finds a way'.......in this case...Viewership finds a way....people who want to see this movie, based on the kind of reaction you observed in the theater Constealltion88, will find their way to a cinema when the day arrives.. A movie like this, with that kind of trailer, will hold enough interest among those it peaks and they will find their way despite the random ramblings we sometimes find ourselves posting....have faith my friend....
