MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:06 AMLinking with the post about 17 crew members iv not much heard much talk on Patrick Wilson as cocooned man? this was from MTV interview november ish from last year
"It was an absolute thrill," Wilson said of his time on Scott's set. "I was blown away by [the script] and I don’t use that sort of phrase a lot, but I was blown away by it, so excited that I wanted to read it again. I just kept re-reading it, even though I knew what was coming. And put it this way, I’ve never done this, I've never finished the shooting on a movie, and then on the ride home read the script again. I had no reason to read it, it was not work-oriented, I just really loved it, it’s so cool."
We know from prior casting announcements that Wilson's role isn't the starring one, but he promised that his character carries his own weight.
"There is an importance to my character, certainly size [of the role] was not the issue," he said. "It's an exciting, thrilling script, so to be a part of it on any level, I said ‘Yes, just tell me where you want me to be, I will be there.’ It was great. It was nice to come in just as they were finishing shooting, just to play a little bit."
He must still be in the movie to of talked about being on set, the fact we've not seen him in the trailers must mean he has very important roll.
(sorry if been discussed before)

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:18 AMUKALIEN,
I said in a reply to another thread that I think Wilson's character is Vicker's father, it is the reason why she is there (not just the company stuff), she is hoping that whatever they find will give him life, she believes as much in the mission as Shaw but she isn't going to say it.
It then leads you on to question everything else, what if P Weyland has had some contact prior to this with the 'Engineers/Gods' and that he knew that the possibility of eternal life, or more life was possible, may be his hope is the biggest religious theme of the movie, and Vickers real reason for being there, not just commercial???

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 11:19 AMI believe Noomi said in the latest interview that her character's father, Patrick Wilson, dies when Shaw is growing up. He may only be in the movie as flashbacks or something, though I've heard the theory that Freeze Him said. His face does look a little like the bighead statue. Though the engineers could be using some kind of telepathy and using Shaw's dad's face to draw up a kind of emotional connection with the visiting crew.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 11:27 AM@O I think you might be on to something there, it is Shaw who is seemingly being held in a trance in a trailer, so maybe he is projecting her thoughts (if you could bring ANYONE BACK TO LIFE WHO WOULD IT BE? kinda thing?) and playing on it. Kinda like when the Stay Puff marshmellow man turns up, he just coudn't help it LOL........
