prometheus running time is 119 minutes! new image of vickers

I understand advertising for other sites is fine and all, but it gets tiresome to constantly read a thread that only contains links to another site. You know you can post the content as well as provide a source link at the top or bottom, right? Images, I understand if the source site doesn't provide a direct URL to the image, but please refrain from just posting links to other forums and instead give us something to read! I'm going to update the first post of this thread with more information.

one minute shy of two hours.....i guess since they got the pg 13 rating they had to scale down somethings....looks like we are going to have to wait for the blu ray for all of our questions to be answered......sucks!!!

It's a little more difficult to accept a movie only 119 minutes long as "epic", as Scott and Lindelof have mentioned in the past. Sounds like Scott was interested in getting the correct pacing just like he was in 'Alien', which was 117 minutes with 20 minutes of extra footage removed. As a fan, you don't mind seeing 3 or 4 hours of this stuff, as long as it's done well and there's an intermission. :-) It's just a little odd when 'The Hunger Games' is 2 hours and 22 minutes and doesn't cover the complex issues that we expect will be dealt with in 'Prometheus'. Has anyone confirmed whether the 17 minutes are really about pacing or from cuts to get the rating the studio and Scott want?

I must say, the run time really surprised me, but kinda in a bad way. I really wanted this to be something about 2.20-2.40, and it looks a bit too short now. We know almost nothing about the rating, just rumours, but this whole thing just screams pg13 to me and I don't know why, it just does. I feel like this "119min" version is "already-cut pg" version of the movie. I wish it was otherwise.

I am fluently bilingual, French and English, but despite this, that video is just way too badly encoded to watch at all, I will wait for a proper version, that one makes it impossible to watch it because of the translation going on is far too loud while it happens live and even far MORE because it is so badly encoded it doesn't stream properly. But what a Joy to see them all like that, it's a pitty I want to see that whole thing now.

Im bilingual french english as well being in quebec its a necessity almost. But i dint hear or see anything mentioning 1hr59min. I still just seethe very uninspiring 1hr19min I do want it to be more 1;59 however im with u sparty but thats apparently what it is. Until its posted on IMDB im not convinced! *denial phase*

ok guys you are mixed up, the thread title says the film is 119 mins long which is in fact 1 hour and 59 minutes...someone suggested that 119 minutes was 1hour and 19 minutes which it obviously is not. So all I said was it is in fact 1 minutes shy of 2 hours or 1 hour and 59 minutes. The video in this thread is 35 minutes long and is so badly encoded it stops every few seconds...Just FYI

Wow...only 2 hours. That's kind of disappointing. Still, what matters the most is that we get a great movie regardless of length.

Yeah that's all well and good but it hardly merits the term epic that it has been billed being from the onset . Undoubtedly the films message is but i was hoping for an epic in the true sense of the word. That time frame fits about 95% of all movies released these days.

lol, Prometheus @ 1:19 (or 80 minutes) would be a farce. Low, low, low-budget films get cut to 80 minutes. Still, a 2-hour film of this scope, purportedly "all about everything," seems too short. The only thing I can think is that, given the length of this film, a sequel has better than a 50% chance of being made. 60/40? 90/10? Fox, throw me a bone?

Agreed, alteredstate. Using the word, "epic", can be misleading and make one to anticipate a lengthier movie than 2 hours. It's about the very grand ideas and notions. The surprising things that will appear to be small, but yet will be enormous." So are these numbers CONFIRMED IN CONCRETE then?? While I most certainly would have liked more, a 2 hour movie will have to do I guess. :( I find it very interesting that did they originally not state way back when that they were thinking of requiring 2 SEPARATE MOVIES to tell the vision of this story that RS had in his mind? If one were to read between the lines of this could one then assume another 2 hour odd movie (Part 2??) is already mentally story boarded in RS's head??

Yes Ridders DID say there would be TWO movies ... the 1st movie will be about the SJ's themeselves ... then the 2nd would be about their home planet ... so a Sequel to the Prequel is on the cards as I read it ... and that's where I would expect (if any) to have a little nod and a wink to the 'Alien' movie crossover ... PLUS ...if it it IS in 2 parts then that's even better ... cheating of some sorts I know ... but 4hrs to tell the story would be ok ... so long as it doesn't take an age to film and wait for the end product ...

Agreed membrane we were sold a lemon on the 'lawrence of arabia ' comparison to this film although i suspect we will get huge sweeping vistas of photography and scenic shots i was hoping for 2.30 hrs bare minimum.

Not exactly Ben Hur is it. That you tube clip was very garbled and badly put together as i am not fluent in french.They could of mixed the sound of the responses much better so that the annoying translator wasn't drowning out the sound of the answers to the questions .
