Anybody brave enough for a Recap? What do we know so far after all?

It won't matter if he makes a mistake or two. Just simply be able to give me and all the fans a synopsis of the accumulated knowledge so far?Am I asking the impossible? I can see, there are at least 10 or 100 guys in here who have really made their study...so? Anyone brave enough? Were we actually so wrong till now?

"If you go down there you will die"
They do.
I think that's it, basically.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

NoXWord....you are certainly one of these people who have made their study. I like your answer!

It's based in space and on planets, and there are NOT going to be any aliens, maybe, possibly, ok ok there may be aliens, hopefully, could be.

What do we "Know"? What's in the trailer is what we "know". LOL What we "know" and what people have been conjuring up from the depths of their minds and then posting on this wonderful forum are two different things entirely.

Even though I am a complete freak fan of Predator, I certainly hope that no Predator is actually going to leap up on stage in the last few minutes of Prometheus to '"set things right".....:) Ok that was joke. I know you must be referring to some dangerous creatures on LV dear paulr. And wolf (as wolf predator maybe?) aliens will certainly be there. Not only the classic xenomorph is named an alien, but almost any kind of life form on LV. So rest assure you are going to see lots of Aliens, maybe much more dangerous and powerful than the classic xeno.

Syphonox, I am guessing you are entirely right. So, we will keep trying to foresee the plot. Isn't this amazing though? That we are trying to get to the bottom of it? This thing has really taken us by storm. It has already attracted our devoted attention! And we seem to be approaching the film almost with a religious reverence. I like that!

I agree. It's amazing how deep we can go with this universe. I love reading everyones views and analysis. I can't wait to see the movie! If the 119 runtime is correct, that's somewhat disappointing because it means a lot of the speculation we have done here will be impossible to address...we shall see!

Am i the only one who doesnt want to see a 'classic' xeno and/or facehugger in this movie?
Ridley Scott stated that the 'alien' has been overdone and he wanted to move appart from it, show something entirely different (yet related in some way).
April 12, 2012
personally I do not mind either way but would absolutely love to see it;s predecessor or it itself, it is a wonderous looking thing and even more of a wonder to study and I think Ridley would be NUTZ to pass up that 1 chance he has had in all these years to bring him/her out of the closet if even for just a wee bow.

I'm ready and excited for something new. A lot of people keep trying to tie in the eggs, facehugger, etc. into this movie and I just don't see it happening that way. Even if there is a direct link to Alien in this movie (like RS has said), that doesn't necessarily mean we will se an egg, facehugger, or chest burster. Alll that means is we can assimilate/understand a logical sequence of events leading to that story. I'm perfectly fine with that.

^^^
having said that, it would be cool to see the old xeno, and I wouldn't complain by any means if it shows up. It hasn't been represented properly in quite some time, but I still saw all those movies because our xeno made an appearance, and it IS one of the most amazing cinematic creations ever.

I honestly wouldnt mind the good ol xeno. if anybody truly has the right to represent the 'alien' on screen it would be Ridley.
However i think at this point i want a fresh clean slate. I want my eyes to witness a completely new unimaginable horror!

Well the Urns have Predator writting all over them........ ;)
Anyway i think AVP could have been great given better director etc and based on Alien 3 Timeline.
I mean Prometheus would suck hard and be classed as maybe none canon if it was based around the year 2012 lol....
This movie i have high hopes for, but i hope Ridley has not gone for a reboot, where his movie can link to Alien but then open door for him to do 1 or 2 sequals that basically piss all over the idea of Aliens and the Queen etc.

Basically a lot of speculation , some far fetched plots and some interesting trivia and I still feel like we are way off. I do know we're all gonna look gob smacked mouths hanging what the hell just happened when we actually see this movie. Come what may I can't wait to actually see the darn movie. Space Jockeys. Blue Humanoids some sorta infection, a possible marathon pregnancy , C - section gone wrong. A squid like baby, some eel like menace, crew members mutating. Old man. Weyland on board, Vickers being an android , David possibly being infected and transformed into a humanoid. What was that about Vickers's'father? Suposedly earth might've been occupied by another highly evolved race who became extinct but created humans as a fail safe. There is just too much lol. My head's'spinning!!!

Totally agree....The Predator and Alien mix is a great example of the interaction between the audience and the directors. Accidentally, a skull (alien-like) made its appearance in a scene of Predator, logically undetectable to the novice eye. Could be just the guys at FOX wanted to fill the wall with trophies and running out of props, they said why not to an alien head already existed in stock. Then the fans, noticed it, and thought there has to be a connection between the two universes, and started projecting it outloud until the movie producers noticed it and thought why not for a mix? Even though I played all AVPs in game, I still believe those two universes had better not to interact with each other. Through the scope of Prometheus, I believe we now understand better why. These two characters have to be the ultimate terror for man for some very distinct reason. Predator as a technologically advanced, far more powerful than human, undetectable to human eye...like fighting the invisible...almost impossible to kill...A born hunter adds to the myth. But the Alien has something diferrent to produce the absolute terror: Only as appeared in 1979 film, alien produces a deep psychological, uncomprenhesible terror. The fact that you can't realize its shape, the methods it uses to kill, how it traps and hunts its victims by instinct, and the excellent directing work done which allowed the viewer to watch terror signs and victims and still not being able to understand why this thing is doing this...it seems it has a purpose...but you don't know. You know everybody will die horribly and we won't be able to understand its nature. It will always be one step ahead of its victims and its just too hard to kill...I believe Giger's design is marvellous. He has actually managed to shape the true form of a nightmare. A paralyzing sight. But Prometheus promises to take us beyond the form of the one xeno and what it is capable of, to possibly , where it came from, what is its purpose and what is its place in creation. I believe far more intriguing questions that all of us Alien fans are entitled to have them answered.
