@the coming IMHO David is a great character, and I also like Vickers (very mysterious've unpredictable)
On the other hand I agree with you with Holloway (very boring) and certainly Fifield can be interesting. And Shaw is good but I prefer to Vickers.
the comingApril 13, 2012
FIFIELD!!
@sham meh...David seems boring..I love Michael Fassbender though, Shame was amazing...he should win an Oscar for that...but my first impressions of David are boredom
Holloway, don't like him...but he does get infected...that's a plus
Shaw...again probably good but kinda boring
They all seem boring lol to be honest...except for...FIFIELD!!

The three characters that are doing all the press interviews, and tv seem to have the best roles i suspect but i could be wrong. I would like to see others get some more input like janek idris elba's character i cant say who's my fav yet.
My testosterone tells me vickers.

SvanyaApril 13, 2012
David8. I love the androids, all of them. Ash, Bishop and Call. XD
Bishop is Bae <3

shambsApril 13, 2012
@alteredstate. I TOTALLY agree with you about Vickers LOL (she is a Goddess)
@Svanya Yes, androids are very cool and interesting. I love the fact that Ridley kept this very important element in Prometheus

Synthrimonger94April 13, 2012
Weyland! Love the mystery in his character and his God-complex! Very interesting character! Love David 8 also I think he's going to steal the show!

GehirnApril 13, 2012
@Constellation88 and Synthrimonger94, YES!
I'm expecting his one-liners to power the next twenty of years of easter eggs in gaming.

belladonnaApril 13, 2012
no idea havent seen the movie yet :P lol

@Constellation88, Synthrimonger94 and Gehirn
To my Janek is a kind of Hero as Jim Raynor and Han Solo IMHO of course.

SQUID BABY

shambsApril 14, 2012
Yeah, the Squid, I have great intuition that this beautiful creature will become a major threat to the crew.

From the previews I would go with Fifield, even though it is pretty clear he won't stay Fifield for too long.
But he has a pinch of Parker, a dash possibly of Hudson, but most importantly a distinct funny character that is not pretty boy or girl and doesn't, and this is just the first impression, seem forced.
But we'll see. Things change. I used to think Kant's synthetic judgments based on a priori concepts of time and space were obvious. Now, I think Hume's argument for the empirical basis for all so-called knowledge is the way to go. I mean, can you believe it? Who knew?
The Call of Kant: Special Ops video game is due out in October. You bet your ass I will be picking that one up, a priori or not!

@Shambhala,
Jim as well? Heck yeah! Surely this music sounds familiar by now?
Just wait until the Protoss expansion comes out. Guaranteed it will be littered with all sorts of Prometheus homage.

shambsApril 14, 2012
@Gehirn WOW! fantastic video, a real kick ass and the sound is the same as Prometheus.
And hell yeah, Prometheus would be the best source of inspiration for an expansion pack.
Thanks for posting it

Shambhala,
No one did or does, at least according to my man Davy Hume, lol.
I wonder what the script would like if Linderhorfllen based it on the writings of Immanuel Kant instead of that Chariots of the Gods guy.
I think a great name would be "Prolegomena"
The by-line would be "They went looking for our beginnings. But they found they couldn't really know our end with absolute certainty."
Terrifying.
GuestApril 14, 2012
It would be smarter to be based on the writings of Immanuel Kant, because
IMHO the theories of ancient astronauts try to give easy explanations for
difficult questions without making a priori judgments to present objective
evidence(in conclusion occam's razor is not always the best alternative
because it is better to support claims with evidence and not passing
judgment just by ignorance or ignorance in front of a mystery). For my part
I prefer the film is based on something more mature and serious and not
something that has become a sort of New Age deception.
And yeah, the quote "They went looking for our beginnings. But they found
they couldn't really know our end with absolute certainty" is more Terrifying
an mysterious.

shambsApril 14, 2012
@dallas!dallas! The writings of Immanuel Kunt can be a source of inspiration more serious and substantial than the writings of Erich von Daniken, IMHO the ancient astronaut theories are interesting, but my problem with them is trying to make a priori judgments not supported by objective evidence (ie try to give easy answers to difficult questions). An example is like saying: "I have no fucking idea what they produce thunder and lightning in the sky, so God must be playing bowling with Jebus, Buddha and the tooth fairy" (in conclusion occam's razor is not always the best alternative because it is better to seek objective evidence and not make judgments a priori product of ignorance in front of a question or mystery)
But of course it's only a movie, and certainly I agree with you that the quote "They went looking for our beginnings. But they found they couldn't really know our end with absolute certainty" is more terrifying because as it preserves the mystery and uncertainty ( IMHO the most scary is the unknown, or in other words I can not understand or see as clearly).

RuthApril 14, 2012
Hard to say lol, because none of us have seen the movie. Without Shaw and David (ok, I don't know if he's a good or a bad droid, but I'm going to like him anyway), I like Janek, he seems to be a good guy. And Fifield looks interesting.
Prom_queenApril 14, 2012
Fifield! Even if he does have a short shelf-life.
I'm still debating on whether I find him or his character's attitude sexy.
I do like me some bad boys.

thefaceheadApril 14, 2012
Janek!!!!!!!!!! Captain, best lines, best accent, best shirt, best at questioning why doors are open, best at landing spaceships, best at shouting 'cut it off CUT IT OFFF!', he's English (best).
hmmmmm best stop before someone makes a blow job joke in my direction!!!

Biehn_BanditApril 14, 2012
"Kill everything. Do you copy me?!" With his Stringer Bell voice, handling shit like a boss.
But seriously, can't wait to see that line in context.
NoXWordApril 14, 2012
I am looking forward to seeing the evolution of Vickers, Shaw and David throughout the movie, but my favourite has to be Fifield!
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

@shambhala
You know I am with you on the inspirational potential behind Kant. Although by all accounts he was entirely lacking in humor. Now add some of the flair of Freddy Nietzsche or Jean-Jaque Rousseau and you've got gold on your hands!

So it pretty much seems 99% of you all hate Holloway.
Poor guy. I thought most of the cast was bit too glamorous for my taste (already discussed in another thread so won't go there) not just scarf boy, but something I read on wiki, I know it is wiki, shoot me, but based on what Logan-wilson green or whatever his name is said, Holloway sounds the most Promethean of any of the main characters. I wonder if he'll make it to the end?
artyohApril 14, 2012
Any man who wears sandals and a scarf at the same time is, by defnition, a douchebag.
dallas!dallas!April 14, 2012
artyoh,
the Holloway Collection Men's Casual wear is coming to department stores this summer.
