Make it all about Weyland...

For me it all starts and ends with Weyland in the canon - he is the link between Earth and this region of space, he has engineered the mission, and he has ultimately created the chain of events that occur after this movie ends whilst his corporation is still deeply involved many years later
There is a strong relationship between the engineers and PW that Im sure will form the basis of the narrative for this film. You don't spend this amount of money or return to a franchise solely to explain the existence of the SJ or why aliens lay eggs to keep the nerds happy. This franchise has the potential for far greater objectives and intellectual capital than that for the viewers
