Peter Weyland; Stowaway or resident of LV-223?
April 15, 2012
It's all guess work, Guy Pearc has said his part is big in terms of importance but not in terms of screen times. So this could mean he's only in the film for a short term as the iconic Peter Weyland or he is in as a short time in acting terms and then Weyland is played by another actor such as Phill Martin who is listed as playing an Engineer.

I'm going with him being part of the 'Prometheus' crew (along with his personal 'security guards')...that are initially hidden from the rest to begin with...

@BellaisanAlien I like that idea, I'd love to see him (or David for that matter) transform into something (possibly an engineer).
@Cervantes See that is what I assume too, judging by his suit.

I don't know for sure but I'll say I really hope Weyland dosn't turn into an engineer ( blue guy, whatever) I hope he just dies and we don't see him again. I find it hard to think that if I paid trillions for my pet project I would hide out with my security guards and not tell anyone. It's Weylands ship, his money, his everything. I doubt he'd stay in a small room for a trip that takes years. Also, if he was already on LV 223 why send another ship. Why not take what he wanted to take on the first one. I don't see how he would need to have another ship come. If it was to save him, he probably would say hey, come here and save my ass if I'm not back by whatever date.

So ... if Phil Martin plays an Engineer, that's NOT necessarily an SJ right? ... maybe Ridders has someone else taller to play the SJ's (or VFX a tall guy)? ... I take it Engineers & SJs are different species? ... if so then the SJ's are looking to be taller and bigger as expected, and so they WOULD fit the huge technology machinery ...
I'm basing this theory on this thread ... SJ and Engineer two different species? ...

I dont know where the confusion of Engineer/Jockey being seperate would come from?
Ridley said this movie will tell us who the Big Guy in the Pilot Chair was, funny he said the one in Alien which could mean the one/ones we see in this movie end up Piloting the Derelict.
For the notion of two seperate races, i guess that would imply maybe there are the Blue Guys, and then Space Jockey and Space Jockey as in a creature that resembles the bones of the Space Jockey in Alien.
But Ridley and others have said that it was a space suit.
I guess we wont know for sure untill the movie comes out, there is so many things that could be going on.
Indeed maybe the Dead Jockey/s we see are killed off by the Blue Guy, maybe something else killed them off.
Maybe the Space Jockey and Blue Guy are the same thing?
Maybe the Worms turn people into eventual Jockeys?
Maybe David or Weyland turn into the Jockey? (but you see in one scene 2 Jockeys in the room at the same time as David).

As far as Guy Pearce....
Well he may apear as himself for a few minutes, remember he said that Guy Pearce apears in the movie for 5 minutes, that does not mean that Weyland is only in for 5 minutes.
Shaw apears in the movie twice played by two actors.
Noomi Rapace and Lucy Hutchinson who will play her as a Child.
So why cant Weyland be played by two actors?
Then again the one scene we see what looks like a old frail man? Could it be Guy Pearce?
Who knows?

^^^^^^
Hahahaha... YES BigDave...I cant believe no one was stating this!!
Now think about the EEL clip everyone is familiar with now. Is that not OLD WEYLANDS version of a suit?... The more ruggedized version with the exoskeletal structure to help him with mobility??
Anyone?..... Anyone???

I really cant stand these stupid discussions anymore, you are all basing your insane notions on nothing, grasping desperately at straws trying to figure it out as if Ridley decided to pour his entire movie out for you in a jigsaw before it has even come out and its up to you to piece it together and ruin it for your selves before it has even come out !!!
Most of the stuff in the trailer is obviously linked to about 3 minutes of footage !

@BigDave
Guy Pearce, or anyone, said that Guy Pearce appears as himself for 5 minutes?
I don't understand, are you joking? What are you actually saying?
I'll clarify what I meant: I heard, Guy Pearce, say that, he was only in the Movie for 5 minutes.
I think it obvious, he would have meant, "in character".
I don't think Guy Pearce would, or could possibly be, appearing "as himself" in a movie set in the late 21st Century.

Quite simply Guy Pearce can appear "as himself" for 5 minutes.. There is also the 3 minute TED talk which could possibly be edited into the film (I think it should be btw)
But whos to say that something BAD occuring to OLD WEYLAND does not also play a prominent role in the story... That would not be Pearce appearing on screen as himself, but instead be something.. well who knows? That would be CGI.

@CanadaPhil
I BEG your pardon?
How on Earth could Guy Pearce appear, "as himself"?!
Do you realize that you're suggesting to me that Guy Pearce, would be appearing as Guy Pearce?
Guy Pearce, before we go too much farther down this very strange road, is a 44 year old Actor?
How could Guy Pearce, the 44 year old Actor, possibly appear as himself, in Prometheus - which is a Science Fiction Fantasy Film, set in the late 21st Century?..
This makes very little sense to me.
Unless your suggesting that they will make Guy Pearce up to represent 90-100 year old Guy Pearce? Even then, I'd be struggling to see how they work an old representation of the Actor, Guy Pearce, into the story?..
I'm afraid that what you're saying to me is sounding very strange indeed.

?????????????????????
NO !!!!!!!
Hahahahahahaa... I stopped reading your reply by the fifth line of text.
I thought the points that were being made by others was that he APPEARS as his HUMAN character PETER WEYLAND for 5 full minutes on film... But that does not mean that something HAPPENS to Weyland and that character then becomes SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY.
You dont need Guy Pearce actually acting on screen anymore for that scenario. And ALL of the people involved with this production have been deliberatly being coy in their media interviews.. A little bit of truth here and there.. but trying VERY HARD not to give away spoiler details to the press.
