when i first saw the beginning traces of this new film, i thought it had "Illuminati" written all over it. not so much in its symbolism as much as in its message

It's a very ancient symbol. And it's not just used by the so-called Illuminati lol. It has many connections to the pyramid and the sun, as well as the eye of Ra and Horus before being appropriated and turned into the so-called secret society symbol. Even some Tibetan monks still use a variation of the symbol, but it mainly means human ingenuity to them. For others it's a symbol of the third eye, and even taken more literally it represents our ability to create the pyramids, given to us by the eye/sun above the pyramid (the sun god's power/ sun's creation of intelligent life). This character repeats in the pictographic script we've seen. In the blue guys' glyphs the eye/sun/power of the gods is underneath the triangle, inside of the pyramid/temple. Their power source/ingenuity lies inside the temple.
