I Hope the Space Jockeys don't talk

Necronomicon IV
MemberOvomorphApril 15, 20122986 Views36 RepliesAt least not in english anyway.
I hope the space jockeys don't even attempt to communicate with humans at all. I would find that much more frightening. I hope they are completely indifferent to us, they just use us for their experiments and stuff. Trying to communicate with the crew of the Prometheus would be like us talking to an intruding family of chipmunks. I find it would be unrealistic.
It could be cool if they had their own alien language though, as long as it is clearly non-human sounding.

I totally agree Necronomicon IV...this has vaguely come up a few times and I'm glad you made a thread of it.......I'm excited by that idea...it is teribly frightening to me to have this level of contact with a another race in a film on their planet, in such tight quarters and NOT be able to communicate with them....I love it....

If you listen to the directors cut at the start when the crew listen to the "beacon" being sent from the planet, it may give you some semblance of the the sound we will be expecting to hear in the SJ ship. It may not be them speaking but possibly may be re-used in some form

true Grindolf.....but I honestly hope there's nothing to hear...I think, if done right, that's just too creepy to want to mess with....

In the deleted scene from Alien, they do have a recording of the message.Quite scary and mysterious.

I'm glad somebody brought this up, actually I agree that the Space Jockey should not talk or communicate with humans, at least in the way we know.
How ever they should make at least a sound when they breathe, eat, hum or something; for me the original audio in the deleted scene now included in the director's cut is creepy as hell.
If the movie shows any sound from the space jockey it must be for a short time and very different from the usual sounds we hear from sci fi movies.
Sound must take a very important in creating the atmosphere of the movie

If has strange reverberating aspects to it and is very organic, I do want them to speak, obviously not English but some kind of language or at least make sounds. I think if the movie suddenly became a silent film with the people screaming being followed by Mute giants it would be unrealistic.
What their goal should be is to use strange sounds in new ways to create the "Alien" ascetic. If you watch a trailer for "Amnesia - Dark Descent" you will hear some monster sounds that I have heard a dozen times before but is always scary because its so unlinked to anything and unnatural.

Agreed Cryo and Grindolf....if any sounds are there, they should be that organic creepiness and no attempts at communication....
April 15, 2012
I'm pretty sure they befriend David in some manner, there will have to be some form of communication if that occurs, he is technically not organic so telepathy probably wont work and sitting there and scratching shit into the wall like a human trying to teach and ape sign language is also pretty stupid.
I believe they will speak audibly but its going to sound totally alien and hopefully creepy and horrifying

I don't know Grindolf...I just don't like that....it sounds silly to me.....whenever aliens talk to people it sounds silly...frankly the only time it hasn't was in the audio tape from 'The Fourth Kind' and that was not the greatest of movies......that had a very unsettling feeling to it...terrifying and creepy as hell...
...even that, seeing it come from a being might not come off looking right.....The key to the power of the signal in the deleted scene of 'Alien' and the audio tape from 'The Fourth Kind' is the absence of the sound's origin...the mental image that begs the question...what must it be that can audibly produce such blood curdling horror as that?
I would contend that whatever we do hear MUST not be seen originating from anything in front of the camera lens....it would most definately be to the film's detriment....

Yes Grindolf, I do not see the SJ trying to communicate with hand signals either. If they are the creators or managers of such technology and biological knowledge they must have a superior way to communicate. By the other hand I do believe they must understand every form of human language.
I also do not see telepathy taking place in Alien Universe.

Who knows...I could be wrong and frequently am, so...JUNE 8TH, GET THE BLODDY HELL HERE ALREADY..........

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."
April 15, 2012
I also hope they don't talk, but depending on how it was executed, it could work for me if they communicated non-verbally by seriously messing with the minds of crewmembers.....but no "The Fury" exploding heads, please.

Totally agree with Necro's post ... no humanised sounds at all ... ALL alien like so we don't understand nothing ... no subtitles either ... we're not supposed to know what they are talking about because they are alien ... as said above ... more creepy not knowing ...
I'm sh!tting myself now ... let alone June 1st ...
