Hence the fact that the SJ ship has no bones for walls
I think the only "familiar" thing will be the Jockey chair, only because FOX now owns the copyright for that. Oh and the ship......oh and the temple lol.
Basically anything in Alien is owned by FOX.

It mentions there that Scott didn't want a Giger universe anymore, but didn't want to completely let it go.
on imdb it say Giger was asked to do the reverse-engineering of the Xeno.
something

In yesterday article "the Planet " ( you can read it in the news ) they explain everything about the artistic choices they made .

Well thats kinda BS.. in a way.
Ridley did want to kinda make the Jockey Architecture and Derelict have more of a Mechanical Feel than the Orginal. We can still tell that it looks more Bio Tech than Mechanical/Material by our Technology standards.
Some would now say this proves the Derelicts are not related.... i say they are suposed to be just some changes have been made, maybe not as extream as the changes of say the BSG Cylon Centurions and their Craft, but maybe less suptle of that of the Orginal BSG Viper Fighters compared to the lastest series ones.
The Xeno Mural is Giger inspired, the Worm Organism looks like one of Gigers works. The Space Jockeys now resemble more of the Alien Cycle Mural ones than what the Orginal one in Alien did.
The Temple looks simular to the Temples that Giger worked on for Dune that never got used, instead they have a Head inside and not ontop.
So there are Giger influences, i guess Ridley has to go that route if he wanted to have to avoid anything of Giger then he would have had to make a movie thats got nothing to do with the Space Jockey or have a Derelict in it etc.

The main Influence in regards to the Planet, The Organisms i feel are based on the Orginal Alien Script...
i.e
1) Temple Complex that hosts the Urns.
2) The Urns described like in Promethues only they was more leathery than ceramic.
3) The Urns contained Organisms, these Organism are described as Octopus like which is what Shaws Baby looks like.
4) The basis/cycle in the Orginal Script was a Organism that re-writes its victim/hosts DNA and Changes it i.e Mutation/Hybrid as opposed to the Embryo that is inplanted in Alien Cycle.
So i say Ridley is taking those ideas for a new Organism, while having the Jockey race has having a important role in the Orginal Xeno and the Organism in this movie... thus he has to make the Jockey Tech look a lot like in Alien while maybe making suptle changes....
People would gone nuts or not made sence had George Lucas say added the Millenium Falcon in the Star Wars Prequels change the apearence into a Space Sausage....

Geiger is all over the place....notice the temple in the distance from the still showing the prometheus cargo bay open and the crew trying to return to the ship? The shot shows a temple with an almost identical look to Geigers original artwork...it even looks almost like a face on top of the temple. Almost the entire look is Geigeresque...except for the Earth equipment.

I think they may be referring as much to the texture of the objects as being Gigeresque or not. Giger's artwork all looks like some semitransparent (airbrushed) material that is somewhere very uncomfortably between metal and bone. Only the figure on the ceiling looks stranslucent to me so far the rest all looks like metal or stone.

I think we will see Gigeresque but it may be toned down somewhat.
I think the end of the movie will be very Gigeresque, but i think if Ridley is planning to go for a Prometheus 2 and it will include a new Organism (i.e not Jockeys or Andriods) then i think he would want this new Organism to kind of stray away from the Gigeresque ones... I mean all the Xenos be that Dog Xeno, Pred Xeno all do have a lot in comon with Species Sil..
Maybe Ridley wants to tone down the Jockey Giger Influence to a more Mechanical than Organic Look as far as its Ship and Temple goes.
And any new Organism that is not meant to continue to that in Alien they may want to again distance it a little from Gigers Alien Xeno/Species Sil look.

Gigers work is commonly called "bio-mechanical".
The problem is most people hear this and imagine something completely different to Gigers works. Although there are sometimes elements of cyber-punk and such like in a few of Gigers works most of his work, IMO, fall into 3 catergories...
1. Mechanical replacing the organic, usually completely.
2. Biologoical replacing the machanical, again usually completely.
3. True "bio-Mechanical" where the difference/similarities between the two is unidentifiable.
For example, the Alien/Xenomorph fall under 3, Harkonnen Castle (the inspiration behind the temples) would fall under 2.

The documentary Giger revealed which i recently purchased has an impressive array of the man's work included and some really good insightful opinions, thoughts, and views from the man himself and his fans and collaborators.

This film without Giger? That's both shocking and very disappointing as his Bio-Mechanics are the very basis for everything Alien. The original film would have been still good but not great without his genius.
If it's not a part of Prometheus, that just doesn't seem to make any sense at all. Remember, it was RS who pushed for Giger's visions in Alien. That choice made all the difference.

Love you and your ring tomes but In my Humble opinion I think you have this Completely Wrong and are Completely jumping the gun. I think Gigers Influence is ALL OVER THIS THING and that we have in fact seen lots of it already, the Xeno like cave mural, the tunnels and Cave where the GIANT Head is at has creatures in it we haven't seen properly yet, THAT CREATURE, EEL THINGY COMING OUT OF SHAW...man... dude...the derelict, the Space Jockey Itself and it is in fact opening up BIO-MECHANICALLY near the end of the trailer, that set alone is comprised of his own 65 foot clay model, the original from 35 years ago man...seriously...with all due respect...you have in fact got this all wrong and like I said we ain't seen nothing yet. And IMO as an added BONUS, what we are seeing already... it's just so seemless and perfect you aren't seeing it. Look Harder...and Hold On...The Best Is yet To Come.
