Perhaps a completely new interest in the Alien universe is about to be unleashed.......better finish my head project lol.

Well there could be a lot as again i have been to cinema 3X recently and seen 3X Trailers....
The only time some other fans recognised Prometheus and made some noises towards it was when i saw Avengers...
There was a section of 30-40 year olds who geered at the movie, especially when the Space Jockey in Seat scene.....
Behind me was some younger 16-19 year olds who then boooed back and said, what was that Sh£"$ anyway....
This youngsters just never had a clue about 70's-80's...
Expendables 2 Organge Phone advert (to tell you to shut off phones) and they recognised that guy from Inbetweeners James Buckley.
Where he made those Stallone impressions "yo adrian"
But these 16-19 year olds said.... lol thats Jack all over funny fu%£%... they did not have a clue that the qoute was from Stallone in Rambo.
They also said who the F£"$ is that when Dolph Lundgren was on the screen and Van Dam...
They simply never knew who those Actors was....
So yes there may be some viewers who would not be aware of such.
I think Fox wants to pitch this movie to none Alien fans aswell so they can make more money, and maybe by doing that, if they tonned down the Alien links then fans who would say "oh no not another Alien movie, i ant gonna see that" may go see the movie without really knowing its a Alien Universe Movie in the hope if they enjoy it then their is a market for a 2nd one....
But doing this could be at the expensive of the real Alien Franchise fans.
I think this is why the trailers and TV Spots show too much, takes away most of the secrets and plot lines regarding the Space Jockey, basicaly a lot of the links to Alien are shown in the Trailers as even though they give away a lot for Alien fans....
For the none Alien Fans or general public, the none Alien related parts are not shown that much.
So while some elements like the seeing of the Jockey, and that its a Humaniod in a Suit and the Derelict crashing for Alien fans thats taken away the Mystrey of some parts of the Questions we had at the end of the Alien.
But for the General Puplic it does not matter because most of them would not have known who/what the Space Jockey or Derelict was.
End of the day i think Fox and Lindelof dont care a monkeys if this movie upsets 50% of Alien fans and that % regard it as poor.....
We have nearly 6700 Fans on here, and if say 50% leave after seeing the film and think its pissed all over the Alien franchise more than AVP or Alien Resurection ever did...
Then Fox and Lindelof are not gonna be bothered if say for those 6700 fans there are 12'000 General Puplic who enjoy the movie....

@craigamore:
You think that's bad... there's a documentary about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki called White Light/Black Rain, I think it's up on Youtube, or at least it used to be...
In the beginning of the film, there's a bunch of "man on the street" interviews with people in Tokyo, and the filmmakers stop a number of young Japanese women and men and ask each of them if they knew what historical event had occurred on August 6, 1945.
Not one of the people shown being interviewed knew the answer.

what will those kids say who saw the franchise after seeing Prometheus?
man, where are the space Jockeys in Aliens, Alien 3 and 4..and why is the old SJ in Alien so biiiiiiiiigg?

As far as me i saw Alien i think it was about 1984-1985 but i never paid massive attention to every part of it, i may had seen it before then on TV but not remembered as i was only a kid.
I saw Alien again in 1986-87 and paid more attention and Aliens in 1986-87 on Video...
I would only been a Todler when the Orginal 1979 Alien was out, but i am still a fan of the movie, upto Alien 3.
I dont agree with Alien Resurection because i think the story and plot lacked what Alien did and Action what Aliens did.... it was more like a Alien 3.... with a silly story as far as being able to clone Ripley and that clone carried a Chest Buster..... thats like really silly.
AVP i liked for the Action, the Story was not bad and a good idea, if you take the movie as none Canon....
My only major Problem was if considering it Canon.... that how come Humans find out about the Xeno on Earth in the Early 21st Century but then like 110 years latter they know nothing about it in Alien....
Then again i think Prometheus is going to pose the same NON CANON inconsistancies at the end...
Unless...... Prometheus 2 is set many many years prior to Prometheus and is about the Space Jockeys and not about Weyland etc....
Or they visit another outpost of the Engineers in another part of the Galaxy and has nothing to do with Humans on Earth....
But who is to say that Engineers never created Humans to live on other Worlds in far far away places.

Probably as many as the number that recently learned the Titanic was ACTUALLY A SHIP THAT SANK IN 1912........The 100 year anniversary stunned a lot of younglings that had NO IDEA that Titanic was more than just a movie.......

I seen aliens before i seen alien!Im addicted to the franchise!i was born in 72 I was a youngster when it came out!

Many TV channels like HBO, Star movies are already showing these movies so there... Kids already know there is an alien. Note that many kids or teens have access to the Internet.

I know a few adults who have never seen A L I E N!! or Bladerunner come to that!
Some folks turn their noses up at SF, what fools!
All those younguns are in for a treat. I remember my first viewing, I sat in the cinema & watched it again. Went back many times & then to late night specials where A L I E N was billed. Hope they enjoy it even a fraction as much as I did! Of course they are used to CGI so may not appreciate it. LOL

Wow that is sad that no one reads history. I knew about this before I watched any film version as my dad kept a re-print Daily Mail.

My 4 sons (15, 13, 11 & 9.5) are going and they have ALL seen ALL the Alien movies, Predator movies and AvP movies. They are prepared.
It was a pre-requisite before shelling out $17.50 on an IMAX 3D ticket for each.
The most "into it" of all my sons in the 9.5 year old. He plays lots of AvP MP on the 360 and loves this stuff, but realizes that it is all special effects and fantasy.

My son who is 20 now , will see it a couple of weeks after it comes out
Only because he has been watching me on this Forum , , but then again , things change with him like the weather
