MemberOvomorphApr-19-2012 3:08 PMIt all makes sense now. The blue guys is injecting his spice, while the SJs chew theirs.
And clearly there are baby sandworms everywhere. Shai-hulud!

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 12:51 AMIf they had filmed in Morocco perhaps have seemed much to Arrakis.
By the way, I wonder if the worms of Prometheus made spice with their poop LOL

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 12:22 AMThe mini series was a good effort, but ultimately a failure.
The more years go by the more I think the aesthetic for Dune that Lynch achieved
was pure genius. Just get Lynch himself to whack in some modern, high-quality CGI for a few scenes in the 2nd half of the film and you would have a v. popular DVD re-release.

MemberOvomorphApr-19-2012 8:05 PMIt would have been good. The artwork was good. Though im not sure about Dhali being the emporer

The Doctor
MemberOvomorphApr-19-2012 7:42 PMI tried, but I found the effects was a bit cheap. I was looking forward to the movie they were going to make, but strangely it's been shelved.
It might be due to George Lucus making a life long career of ripping it off.

The Doctor
MemberOvomorphApr-19-2012 7:26 PMRead the book, it's by far the best work of scifi ever. This thread has made me smile I assume the squid is the sandworm, is shaw therefore a bene jessurit witch? And Patrick Stewart is the head statue. Lets hope Sting doesn't turn up,
Joking aside its definately Arrakis

quote from Lynch's Dune:
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

MemberOvomorphApr-19-2012 6:12 PMMan, I do love Dune!
The first time I watched it I was 8 or 9 and I just fell in love right away!
(it was also the case with Alien, only Alien was waaaaay scarier)
It was a "non-comercial" movie with a very deep political story (the movie failed to show it 100%...) that was doomed to fail.
Just too complicated for the mojority of movie viewers looking for some dead aliens.
I'm happy that the movie has gained some status with Sci-Fi fans over the years.
Well, I don't know if the blue guy is on spice (or steroids; he IS pretty buff! I'll have some of what he's having ;) ) or the Baron was turning into a xeno... but he sure looks like he's bumped into one, head first!!
I guess this is one that could easily earn a remake, IMHO.... but then again, no remake if the powers that be don't see a profit on the horizon.
Anyway, June 8 is just too far away... missing some (new) good Sci-Fi ;)

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 4:05 AMagree, Lynch was just perfect to direct this..
must have been a real pain in the arse to do it, because Scott quit..
I love it.
