Has anyone noticed that in Mr Weyland's biography, Dad was a self-taught "engineer". How many "engineers" out there do you know are self-taught; furthermore, WHAT kind of engineering? Hmmm. I think RS use of this term throughout this project and Alien#1 commentaries makes the hint of PW's origins more than subtle. This would explain PW's uncanny scientific abilities and discoveries--without formal education--that have changed the world and at such a young age! I am vaklemmpt wondering about all the possible twists and turns.

i thin that the most great geniuses of our history are self taught ( self taught dont mean they didnt read alot ... ) ... YEs there can be the possibility that someone of the Weyland family was gifted from the SJs of some "advancement " ( and that dont mean they were aware of it , of course they were not ) ...btw from what we see the SJs are not exactly an ective and florid race ...they look at the brink of exinction so is strange that in the last years they were so involved in earth affairs .

I think Shaitan, I mean Shaihalud, could be on to something. The very nature of most engineering requires some level of certification and implies a adherence to established regulations. I just think the use of that term is odd, when a word such as innovator or inventor could have been used. Engineer carries a context with it that I find hard to reconcile with the term "self-taught " and it could very well be a clue. Or it could be a clever bit of copy writing meant to mislead us Ridleyverse fanatics.

Engineer is often an old-school term used for us techies. I used to get a kick out of this close-to-retirement lady that would mess up a spreadsheet or somehow unplug her mouse and she'd get off the phone hurriedly when I arrived at her cubicle stating to the person on the other end that "the engineer is here".....LOL

I think that Peter Weyland had a human father who was very very smart and managed to become an engineer with very little formal training. There are stories of people who never go to law school and pass the bar, and people who never go to med school and pass the boards. Engineering is mostly mathematics, so a prodigy or incredible intellect would have the least trouble gaining mastery of that subject. however, Peter may have had help...

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

I'm a self-taught engineer. And I am not even blue-skinned. It's called reading books.
