Alright, I'll make this brief but I may just get going and who knows what will happen. I don't mind speculation, in fact I love it. I love coming here and seeing you guys dish it out and go from A to B to C all the way to Z and back again. The thing that I find incredibly is when we have 3 to 5 topics dedicated to the same subject. It used to be what planet did Prometheus take place on. Is their a xenomorph in the move like the ones in Alien(s)? Is Vickers an android. Is Peter Weyland on board? Those conversations are cool but when there's a topic started on the subject then someone goes and start the same topic just hours later it is really starting to becaome a pain in the @$$ to sort through threads to see what is new. We all asked BUGHUNTER and staff for a search function. Let's use it. I do when I reference something I know was older. If tomorrow you want to start a thread about "Does Shaw get impregnated by something" look first. You probably weren't the first person to think of that topic. Thank you for your time

I probably shouldn't post this HERE, but I welcome the STAFF’s moving it to where it belongs: Adding an umbrella layer of topical organizers would help a lot too. The site is already partially arranged that way, but I'm talking about thematic categories like: Trailer dissection Franchise member interviews Engineer technology and science Crew (with sub-boards for individuals) - Vickers - Shaw - David - Holloway (etc.) Historic Engineer influence on Earth Prometheus <—> Alien(s) connection The reason to do this is that it gives people ‘places to go’ and ‘hang out’ where the subject matters that interest them are located. I don't know if this functionality is easy to implement on this platform or not. Another community I belong to that is film fan-base-focused has this level of granularity for organizing topics and it's very effective. It runs on Simple Minds. I suggest that the folks who run this site think about the ramifications of all of the discussion that will BEGIN HAPPENING and the existing topics that will CHANGE when the film is released. The week-long “SPOILER CONUNDRUM” that will occur based on the differential between the release dates in the UK and the US should probably also be taken into consideration when designing structure. Participation here could accidentally RUIN the film experience for thousands of site members if certain dynamics are not considered for that special week.

@Saints Sinphony: I second your comments and appreciate that you want to keep the topics on this forum fresh. For a few weeks, I was on this site regularly, but as you are pointing out, there are too many discussions on the same topic, thus making it not fun to look for new information. I hope other users can take your advice and not start a new topic, unless they have something new that's of relevance to this movie. Thank you! :)

It's probably just me, but isn't it kind of very unorthodox way to display the threads this forum uses.. I mean now how all the threads are displayed in 'starting day' -order. This display style kind of supports the creation of a new thread everytime. One time I replied to this older thread that was on page 2 or 3 (so it was relatively new). The discussion was most intriguing, but I dont think anyone has even read it after that posting of mine. Realworld example: Search doesnt work (with me, atleast atm)

uhhh there was like two or three other posts on here and now they are gone. I was even explaining to @atroyi (sp?) how to start a new thread and there was two others that are also gone. maybe the blue guys kidnapped them.

You know what I find incredibly? When people create new threads for no good reason at all.

@Ghorgul It's not just you. The design (at least on the organization front) is more of a Twitter-like stream of consciousness or waterfall approach. It does not do much to assist newcomers in ‘researching and learning’ all that has been discussed before and is not extremely supportive of asynchronous participation. If one is not here all day long every day, it can be difficult to stay on top of what has been and is being discussed. I have also posted to older threads and I am dubious that anyone will ever go read what I wrote because these older topics becomes "drowned" in the pool at the base of the waterfall.

I completely disagree, and have used that search function daily since we incorporated it and it is a great way to go through what is relevant and what isn't to your proposed post,.IMO the Honest reason you all feel the way you do is the same as mine, We are all TOO LAZY BY NATURE TO TAKE THE TIME TO DO A PROPER SEARCH, regardless of imagined and perceived time constraints, which are all B.S. anyway because if you did not have the time you would not be trying to post on a forum to begin with.

@Spartacus, Your users are giving you FREE user feedback. Some of us have experience with other sites in a similar vein that organize information differently and we LIKE the other methodologies more due to the evolved nature of the conveniences they provide. We are offering you a way to make this site more useful because we feel that it is fundamentally worthwhile, and therefore worth improving—so that it will attract more users (who will then in turn hopefully hang around and contribute more, thereby building a more robust community (or ‘property’ if one is of that mindset.)) That's referred to as ‘stickiness’ in marketing-speak. I am a professional market researcher. I have invested many hours of my time here between other pursuits. I'm only trying to help. You are ‘Staff’ here. If I were in a business (any business) and ANYONE associated with that business called me “TOO LAZY” or referred to my feedback as “B.S.” I would NEVER set foot in it again. Most respectfully, sukkal
