Site issues: are they server overload related?

MemberOvomorphApril 25, 2012908 Views9 RepliesJust wondering if the current servers are getting overloaded due to increasing traffic to the site, or if there is a lot of maintenance behind the scenes?
Lately, I've had to restart the page multiple times due to hangs. It seemed to never be a problem "Pre-4000", lol...
Just curious. Hopefully, it gets better...

cool...ty for the update. That would explain a lot. I suspect the fans joining this site are going to blow the roof off over the month leading up to the movie. I'll bet at least 6000 by June 1, and probably 7000 by June 8...

I must say, it seems that "Animated gif" type avatars are causing most of the problems. They just eat up SOO much bandwidth (like 10-20x's that of a "normal" avatar). Would like to have the ability to disable the animated ones, or prevent them altogether. (Yes, I know there are people who LOVE looking at them, but, seriously, how many times do we need to see some animation at the cost of slower and potentially "buggier" page loading???)

I agree and have mentioned it to him and "BugHunter" is aware, they were all taken down not too long ago but I think he is allowing them again, not to sure, best thing is to check with the guy who is making them all... "RipleyClone8"... he would more than likely know better than me where we stand right now on that issue of Animated avatars

thanks, Sparty...I don't want this to sound like I'm "hating" on animated avatars. This is a practical issue, not a personal one, so all you animated GIF lovers, please don't take it the wrong way.
