MemberOvomorphApril 25, 20122994 Views39 RepliesI was just updating my profile info. and thought this might be a cool idea to get to know each other a little better. Besides being here and researching anything and everything Prometheus-oriented, what are your 3 top favorite hobbies?
Me: Besides what's included in my job description I like to:
1. Fossil hunt (I'll throw in crystal mining too).
2. Antique picking / auctions.
3. SCUBA dive (preferably for fossils).

@ farriss
My best friend my whole life since a child moved away to FLA many years ago but we have stayed in touch and he is Hungarian.
he taught me to say one sentence n Hungarian which I have been repeating to women for 35 years now and it is pronounced like this I think...
"Vee-Sant- La-Tash-Ra" or "Until We Meet Again" !!!
Thought you might get a Kick out of that story,
Regards from Montreal.

Cool idea db.
Here's mine:
1. Rockhound (also do some crystal mining (Mt. Ida, AR rocks - pun intended))
2. Clydesdale riding and driving - if you've never ridden a clydesdale its just like being on a big, warm, soft recliner
3. Storm spotting/chasing (chased my first tornado (Elmwood, IL) June 6, 2010) - lifelong weather enthusiast

Good Idea!
I am from Hungary, so my english could be better, but anyway...
1. cooking (I do love pizza and other italian stuff, like lasagne, pastas, full of garlic etc.)
2. drawing with my wacom table. (to be honest Prometheus has forced me to start creating an Alien comic titled Alien:Origins. The story takes place between the events of Aliens and Alien 3, however the story is independent on the original story line. )
3. My daugher, my cat :)
4. Animal protecting
5. French music

1-Sports. Played semi pro Hockey 30+ years ago and have been skating ever since I was 4 and even since I retired from pro Hockey. Play Football, Tennis and Golf as much as possible and any other sport I can, love em all.
2-Guitar/Music/Concerts. I spent some years and built up a home theater experience for myself which includes 13 Satellite Speakers and 3 Sub Woofers, is THX Certified and runs anything from stereo through PCM, 5.1 and DTS. Watch Most films at home now, it;s ten times better than anything else except for IMAX. I love live concerts and am a hug Rock and Roll fan. 1st show I ever saw Live was The Concert For Bangladesh...with Billy Preston {Will It Go Round In Circles"} and Ravi Shankar on The Citar but he was voilently sick with the flu that nite so his wonderful wife stepped in and took his place. Plus...3 of the 4 Beatles, Lennon couldn't make it that night. As the show started I asked my father what the white drug was people were all sticking in their ears close to the stage on the floor, and my Pop laughed at me and answered, "That's Cotton", "Their plugging their ears to keep from damaging them during the show from the loud sounds" Play guitar when I can and just love "jammin". My father was in charge of sales in Canada at Decca Records for many years so that's where that comes from. Bigh Black Crowes, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin fan and I am ON the Queen We Will Rock You DVD recorded at the Old Montreal forum in '79, in the audience and as a bright eyed 17 years old rock 'n rolla !!! Have been playing guitar for many years now and can pretty well carry the rhythm on most rock tunes but I had a terrible Football injury to might right hand a few years back and it;s only now back to about 98% of what it was. I tore the Right Thumb "Extensor Tendon" in half and it rolled up my arm so I needed transplant surgery to fix my thumb and hand. Broke the wrist bone right around it as well, aside form some scaring it;s hard to tell even now.
3-Film Collecting Have over 5,000 films including the entire first 5 pages of this list of the greatest films ever made. pride myself on my love and study of film and would have loved to been a director.
4-ART {Paintings & Sculptures} - Not making them, viewing them , I Love art, In fact I love anything creative and like to think I am a good judge of what is and what isn't but as I get older I realize how little about everything I really know.
5-I am wanna be ornithologist but all I got is pair of cheap Binoculars!
6-BBQ Beer & "Funny" Cigarettes {No Further enhancement necessary}
7-The Prometheus Forums and all things Alien !!!

MMORPG's and Video games mostly. WoW, LOTRO and RIFT. Skyrim, and some other games on STEAM.
@Spartacus. The "search" option doesn't work well anymore, it only uses limited options like Shaw or David.

Live and work in Montreal.
MY handicap at golf by the way is 15 !!!
Play a famous resort course here in Montreal in The Luarentian Mountain Range @ "Mount Tremblant" called "Le Geant" and twice or three times per year at that but that gets really expensive so I usually just play the local courses which aren't really that cheap anymore either..My Uncle John is on the waiting list to play St Andrews, I hope he invites me when he goes.

Father was in charge of Sales for Decca Records, then Irwin Toy when I was younger...owns his own toy company and is a novelist today.

I filled in doing the Barney The Dinosaurs, The Power Rangers, Mickey Mouse, and 2 Striping gorillas one male and one female...that sort of thing...while she did all the regular telegrams and made a lot of extra wad doing it in the day.
I am going to be 50 On June 15th of this year, one week after the release of the film. That CELEBRATION should be a "HOOT" !!!

!) Travel - each year I spend about a month overseas, something I've been doing for the last 10 years or so.
2) Music - lifelong music lover of all types from Perotin to Punk, collector
3) Film, and some television - Not sure how to catagorize my tastes except to call them wide and diverse. From "Citizen Kane" to "The Tin Drum" to "The Lake House"..my library may be a little confusing if not difficult to pigeonhole. 3000 titles and still adding.
I'm an Aviation professional, but not a classic buff..no Stearman or J-Cub stashed away. For me, it's a vocation that pays well, but I wouldn't call it a hobby.

dbApril 25, 2012
Wow guys and gals, great responses!
What a diverse group!
Bella wins for best hobbie.
Sparty: band name: "The Prequels" or maybe... "Not The Prequels".
Alien DNA: I'll check on those IMAX tix too!
Tatooedkoi: ...a fellow Mt. Ida crystal miner! How cool is that? What's your best piece?
If you've ever visited their chamber of commerce recently, that's my 4 footer in the front window that glows different colors at night. (OK, it's a prop I made for Smallville's website that I traded them for 3 days of mining a couple years back.)
Keep em' coming fellow Prometheans!

I have been trying for 2 hours roughly now to get in here and post my profile, but I cannot access it, and I do not wish to recreate it after posting a long post in here this morning and only to have it get lost due to site maintenance on the upload. So I will wait and post MY actual profile page here tomorrow, thanks for your patience with me on that. Great thread man, hope everyone updates their profiles with stuff like all this. I think It is so cool to be able to visit each profile page and learn a bit about each member here, where they are and what they like to do in life.

I rotate hobbies quite often (collecting figures/toys/anime), but in general I gravitate towards anything (old & new) and everything "science-fiction" (Star Wars, Alien, Tron, The Matrix) and "fantasy" (Lord of the Rings).
Funny thing is.....I No longer watch TV per se. I gave up the DVR, too.
I believe that our society (at least I am) is pulling away from viewing physical media (VHS, DVDs, Blu-Ray) and broadcasted shows in favor of being able to pull all/anything down from the internet. So hold unto your Blu-Rays, boys n girls, for in a decade or two, they'll seem like 8-tracks.

I recently purchased this plastic model of the Nostromo, I'm hoping to give it a paint job reminiscent of what I think space truckers would paint their beast. I realize that the dark blue greyish color that the original would have is probably best for the Mood of Horror and military space vehicles, so....I'm going to bring it down to earth a little. Will keep you all up dated to the final product. I would also like to later build a Refinery Rig to carry reefer.

I seem to have a new hobby every month, I'm fickle like that, but the ones I've kept to for many years are playing music (drums & guitar), collecting vintage video games/consoles and origami. Here's one of my creations.

And yeah, the only reason I wanted to create an origami unicorn was Blade Runner. I'm a geek.
