Prometheus gets an "18" rating in Spain

It's easy to edit violence/language and or nudity for a lower rating, but to edit a film because of mature or disturbing content/themes will compromise its integrity. Prometheus clearly deals with some very serious ideas about our humanity, and Scott said he wants to scare the shit out of us. I hope FOX realizes they have something special here, not just another popcorn flick (AVP).

I have no doubt we're getting an R, always have felt that.

To me it would just make the whole event more serious man !!! PG for me is Kiddy stuff and a "for all" rating would sully the scare factor and ticket take on this film IMO.

It's easy to dull down the violence, language and/or nudity to get a lower rating, but it is ridiculous to edit a movie because of the mature themes that would compromise the integrity of the film. This film obviously deals with some of the most serious ideas of our humanity, and Ridley has said he wants to scare the shit out of us. I hope FOX realize this is no ordinary popcorn flick, they may have a masterpiece in their hands. The studios first thought is surely the lower the rating the more people we can get to see it. However with a higher rating they might realize this is just a better film. The better the film is the more word of mouth you get and more positive controversy that will get people interested in an adult sci-fi we've been waiting for. I hope!

Errr no it didn't, as has already been clarified on a previous thread THE SAME DAY (so why open another and perpetuate this BS). The studios will get what they want - be prepared for disappointment

Not sure what the social guidelines are there, but do you think that would translate to a R here? I dont think so. Movies get away with a lot today in Cdn. theatres. I still think it will still be a 14A here... but I guess we will find out soon.

Spartacus, happy to entertain, however it was like a Noomi / Charlize Sandwich at 5am. This site just keeps coming in waves, nothing for a while then 3 juggernauts at once............
