David Taking Charge Based on Latest Featurette

hey hey peoples, this idea may have been mentioned before based on previous trailers, videos, etc. but in this latest video Davids actions really stood out to me & he seemed overconfident. the way he strides into the star map room like he owns the place, " a superior species, no doubt". then he pops a squat in the jockeys chair having a casual go at the controls. the humans seem to be content with David messing about with another species technology so nonchalantly. its a bit suspicious to me. thoughts???

I think he is the smartest being there. 10^12 neurons and no funny emotions messing him up. Also, the sense of confidence is programmed into him to put the weak emotional humans at ease.

He's probably in a pre-programmed 'guinea-pig' mode and that would be fine and dandy with the humans. Testing the water, like. This time it's 'androids expendable' not 'crew' lol.

they say that he act a bit like a kid ...so hes an overexcited kid playng with a new toy ( imo )

I see I see, the preprogrammed method and himthe being exciteda makes sense. But why do they and David think its ok and safe to experiment with another species technology. It just seems really risky to me. Kind of reminds of Goldilocks and the three bears, nobody is home and the characters "make themselves at home"

@ReeceMacoy re. David, I get the same sense too - since it seems very unlikely to me that the actions he takes will have consequences fully anticipated/expected by the crew. Instead, he's actually [i]driving the action[/i], with no apparent input from the crew, his (assumed) "masters". At this point, I'd be pushing the "pause" button on the David8 remote...

if David is the only person that can decipher the technology, the runes etc...hes in charge. And I think hes enjoying the power trip, certainly in awe (biomechanic - a bit like him)...he is also very innocent, childlike does he set off a chain of events with his curiosity? Perhaps we begin to notice how this all can go horribly wrong....the irony that man's own creation gets to meet man's creator and screws it up royally for everyone. Just a thought.

[/i] I dont know; human brains have 100 billion neurons, and scientists have no idea what their actual capacity is because no one wants to tinker with a fully functional brain to find out. At our current capacity though, which is around 2-5%, then yes David is the smartest SOB in space.

I dunno.....if David does screw things up by accident or deliberate, individual intent, it might skew things towards "2001" a bit [i]too[/i] closely. On the other hand, if he screws things up because he's been ordered to, by one of his masters...... A real-"live" David would represent a quantum leap beyond HAL, that's for sure.
