"I would go and write my draft, and then Ridley and I would sit for weeks, wrestling the story into shape," Spaihts says. Scott frequently dug up pictures that captured his imagination. "He has a fascination with the uglier forms of parasitism, dark examples of anatomy from subterranean creatures with staring eyes and jaws."
Nice!

As to the film's creature, it takes on at least four different forms as it grows and changes, sometimes "organically" in a way that Rapace calls "every woman's worst nightmare."
Well, that explains quite a lot.

That spoiler has already made the rounds here, but yeah, I was surprised that the hollywood reporter would not warn of having a spoiler in their article.

Crap, there are actually 2 spoilers in this article, you definitely need to put a "SPOILERS" warning in the title of this thread. The second spoiler is about the Engineer hologram, which is in the international trailer, I don't think any of us really noticed this detail. It seems obvious to me now, watching the trailer again, but it is still a spoiler as it explains something we probably weren't supposed to know yet.

i dont think its that much of a spoiler...
Ages ago i posted some images that someone sent me that he said the concepts and props on the set looked a lot like. He said that there was 5 Alien Creatures in this movie....
Depends what he means by that as we have all seen.
1) Eye Worm Thingy
2) Cobra Xeno
3) Shaws Baby Squid
4) Mutated Fifield
5) Space Jockey/Engineer
Unless he never counted Space Jockey and Mutated Crew...
So what else we see is the wriggly things ontop of the Urns and inside them...
That still leaves one thing...... and thats potentially anything that Shaws Baby Grows into.....
Ridley says four stages, in regards to Shaw...
1) The infection parasite that Holloway carries
2) Cuddles the Squid Baby
That leaves two more stages does it not?
Funny enough the Xeno had 4 stages.
1) Egg, 2) Face Hugger, 3) Chest Burster, 4) Grown Xeno.

Ok just expanded to the full one and yes it has what 4-5 spoilers ish!
One confirms something many thought had happened that some said maybe not.
There are two that now fit parts of the trailer in seqeunce, one we thought happened at another point in the movie but seems not.

"After two years and five drafts, Scott started to rethink the project. It was then that he contacted Lindelof, who, in a lengthy e-mail, argued against making the film a direct predecessor to Alien: 'I don't like the word 'prequel' because it communicates to an audience that they already know the ending.'"
So, essentially, if Prometheus doesn't answer our questions about Alien, or somehow fails to satisfy our curiosity, then we know exactly whom to blame.

I agree with Snorkelbottom.
Actually I'd go a step further and say that a lot of people are expecting another serving of chocolate ice cream from this movie, when Ridley and co. are trying to serve us strawberry instead.
Ok, lame metaphor, but you get the idea.

Yes, and I intend to whip myself with rosary beads in penance for expecting so much from this film.
May 17, 2012
@ Snorkelbottom - that was my error. I clicked that entirely on accident. Let the thrashing of the rosary beads commence...

@ azalard - no probs
I have seen a few threads lately, even one earlier today asking what questions they expect Prometheus to answer. The simple answer is few, if any of your questions will be answered.
I have said this from day one... IMO this is a Space Jockey film, about the Space Jockey and beyond that, being set in the same universe and the SJ's association to Alien is completely unrelated to Alien. I don't expect any answers, in fact I expect more questions, questions that will drive demand and desire for a sequel.
IMO those expecting Prometheus to answer everything about Alien are setting themselves up for disappointment. Any answers you may get will be cryptic and open to interpretation.

And in my defense, let me clarify what I'm saying: I've tried to convey in the past that I would like this movie to answer certain questions. To use Snorkelbottom's own words, this is a valid point, and no person can be blamed for reasonably expecting a film to answer certain questions.
I think you guys assume that I'm one of those fans who take things a step further. You know, the type who have to see the xenomorph or else they're gonna just die!!! I'm not one of those. In fact, when I try to express my opinion on the matter, many come after me brandishing their torches and pitchforks. C'mon. Really? I just want this movie to explain certain questions I have about the original, and I truly think that there are plenty of others who feel the same way. Perhaps I didn't articulate that correctly when I said that Lindelof would be solely to blame for my disappointed (so in those regards, you would be absolutely correct, Snorkelbottom in asking me to "blame" myself).
If this movie doesn't answer those questions, I won't pitch a fit per say, but I will be left wondering if those original ideas were stifled due to the influence Lindelof had on the writing process. This is a very valid argument, and I kind of resent being told that I should blame myself for expecting too much out of a film, as if I'm some kid who lives in his "mommy's" basement.

Look at it this way - do you want...
Option 1
A direct prequel (a la Star Wars episode III) that answers everything nicely and neatly and in a bow, leaving no real open avenues for fresh ideas and essentially killing of the franchise.
Option 2
A new story, taking a new direction, that is associated/linked to the original franchise that may shed a little light, but ultimately opens the franchise up to new possibilities.
Prometheus is option 2, although a lot of people acknowledge that, they still want option 1.
