No matter what

I suspect/hope that Scott has a lot more up his sleeve than he has shown us and that there are plenty of surprises to come. Still can't help feeling down about the running time though.....?

Exactly Dave_b...I don't get the trepidation...we don't know what we're dealing with yet, so what is there to complain about?

I must say that I think 2 hrs is perfect, especially after just watching the Aliens Director cut which clocks in at 2hrs 37m.....man, that seemed long!

The films will have very different in pacing.
Alien required quick disturbing scenes to shock the audience, ala Kane's son arriving, followed or preceded by very slow scenes in dark and new areas to distract and build tension.
I think Prometheus will be more action than Alien. After all, there are now 10 more people than Alien's 7 people who will be running for their lives and die. More people dying in about the same length of a movie (if the times above are correct).

AR is such a POS film. I too am a little bummed about the running time on Prometheus especially if the film is good the two hours and nineteen minutes will probably fly by. But maybe the R rating will come through at least.

I'm talking about ALIENS with an S...cameron's film. That was far more action even and 2hrs 37m's still seemed long.

wow for the first time in about a month I had to go off on a contract and then out for dinner today and I was away from the forum for about 6-7 hours, and for some strange reason, I kept thinking, wondering about, contemplating on, meditating around, focusing all my attention...obsessing, and transcendentally imagining what might be the exact length of this film when all is said and done.

I've seen at least one thread dedicated to dissecting exactly what Prometheus's runtime means and how vitally important it is to the film's success/failure. It was ridiculous.
