i was just wondering what is the actual life cycle of the xenos we have come to love throughout the years.....though their are many movies in the series not one of them gives us an actual life cycle...... for example based on the film Alien parker and brett said 25 hrs before they could repair the ship....we know the actual time should have been about 17 as parker extended that due to his lazy nature....lol. from there on we speculate how long it took kane dallas lambert to get to derilict ship explore etc before kane was exposed to face hugger no time frame is given as far as how long the thing was on his face another example in Aliens we see a citizen give birth when the marines are exploring the hive, but from what we know LV426 is at least months trip away from earth how long did it take the sulocio to get to the planet etc another example there is never a timeline give from ripley being impregnated and the actual birth at the end of the film answer anyone???

The closest thing would be Giger's mural of it. Just google "Giger Alien Life cycle", should pop right up.

going by what Ridley Scott stated in interviews about ALIEN he explained that the alien has a short lifespan, it is born an albino, as it ages, it becomes darker and darker that is the little that i know

Well all we know is that the Xeno starts as a Egg, that then releases a Face Hugger whos purpose is to implant a Embyo into a living Host. The Embryo grows inside its host and takes on some of its DNA and then it Chest Brusts this cycle could take only about 24 hours. Thats the easy part.... After that the Xeno seems to be able to grow very fast to a full grown Organism. Sounds odd, but have you seen a Wolf Spiders Life Cycle, i found a baby one in my Bathroom was tiny like the size of ant maybe smaller. It was winter so not much food sources. But low and behold within about a week this bugger had grown to full size and what at least 10-15X its size on little or no diet. The next stage like the Wolf Spider, is we just dont know how long a Xeno will stay alive for if its not killed. The Wolf Spider in my house i saw for about 6 weeks. Other questions would be how does a Queen Xeno occur?

I think the OP means the lifespan of the Xenomorph, as in how long they live.

@bigdave yea the queen thing is odd to me. i understand its a direction cameron used to propell the film forward without too much thinking and i do believe it worked well if you didnt have to explain things as aliens being an action movie where alien was horror/thiller genre and we all understand that in that small time span film making and its audience had changed drastically so okay but so much is never explained what do they eat???? in alien the creature didnt kill dallas or brett he cooconed them ...for what reason....he killed parker and lambert why?? is the goop covering dallas gonna convert him blah blah....just rambling on these 38 days are gonna kill me....

Another thing to consider is the host/dna from which the egg was laid. In Aliens we were shown a Queen. Its possible the Queen is only the product of a human/xeno hybrid. If there was a SJ/Xeno hybrid it would be something else (non Queen), and might not even lay eggs. Does the xeno have its own cycle or does it mimic the life cycle of its host. You could have xeno plants, xeno "animals"(All we have seen is "xeno" humans and a "xeno" Dog/Cow), The SJ could even be the pure master form of the xeno.

The xeno's living in an egg could last a very longtime judging by the fact that deralict space ship on LV-426 has obviously been crashed for sometime yet the eggs remained alive. In Aliens the citizen could have held out months after they lost contact with LV-426. Perhaps barracaded in a section of the complex like Newt was. I think the rate at which the impregnating to eventual chest burst depends on the specimen and the host. In any event, i think it more comes down to who is directing and how important they though that aspect was. They should have known die hards would put that stuff into consideration but then again if your only looking to make a quick buck of the name then you wouldn't care if people noticed.

I dont know how long the Xeno would live for... But either way be that Aliens theory or deleted Alien scene, once a Xeno infestation has occured, they would continue to be able to reproduce. Just as maybe Insects can?

I know what you're getting at and it does seem that the gestation period is wildly inconsistent.

Disregarding James Camerons take on the alien. In the deleted scene, Brett is being turned into an egg while Dallas was cocooned. Its clear there was a set life cycle BEFORE the queen was ever thought up. The alien collects dead matter to convert to eggs and melts its victims to the hive structure to serve as hosts. It's a disturbing and fascinating life cycle. I will not miss the queen.

According the "Alien:Vault" book, it states that the Alien has a short life cycle, not very long at all. We see that it was making Dallas and Brett into eggs and then when it was in the shuttle, it was preparing to die until Ripley disturbed it. I recommend the book, lots of tid bits that we will probably see in Prometheus...
