How long ago was the Blu Ray released? Maybe the Space Jockies will sound different or speak and the audio from the warning was changed because of this.

I always thought that scene should have been put in the theatrical version. An ominous sounding signal giving you a hint of what the crew would be in for.

Ridley Scott changed the sound to something else for the new Blu-ray release. It no longer sounds Xeno like it has a more electrical sound to it. Why he changed it I have know idea. The new sound doesnt sound like a warning scary sound anymore.

You mean the pitter patter noise? Seems to be on the 9-disc DVD quad too. Always found it odd that Lambert would describe it as a voice, but thanks to this thread I now know why.

Well looking at that noise... there seems to be repetition.
I would assume it something like...... either
DANGER DANGER THE ORGANISM HAS ESCAPED REPEAT REPEAT DANGER DANGER.
or
Replace Danger with either Warning, or Alert and replace Organism with the Cargo, the Weapon etc and replace maybe repeat with Danger.
So ok hows this
"Warning, Warning..... the Cargo is compremised ...... Danger Danger .... Warning Warning"
Its definately split up as such......

This reminds me of how much I was looking forward to having this scene integrated into the 'Directors Cut'...and how disappointed I was to find the creepy, gutteral sounds heard here were changed to something far less effective...
Too bad that this was altered.

Amazing scene, too bad they cut it.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

really intriguing transmission
really disappointed that Scott chose a safe sounding sound
for the directors cut, this classic version sounds truly alien
but, at least its on Youtube / DVD / Laserdisc

Yeah, I reckon these original scary sounds deserve Kane's "Good God!" response, whereas the replacement sounds don't.
And I would have liked any 'Spacejockey' language to have sounded similar to these original 'warning' sounds, to be honest.

It has been mentioned before in another threads, we all agree we prefer the deleted scene sounds done by Ben Burtt. However, I think they changed it for the director's cut because the less scary noise fits better the description that Dallas mentions during his briefing to the rest of the crew to explain why they havn't reached earth.
BUUUUT...... it is also correct that Lambert and Ripley have a more deep reaction to the original signal that doesn't sounds convincing after hearing that tiny beacon signal of the blu-ray version.
It might be hallucinating but what if Ridley did it on purpose, perhaps thinking that he might use some elements of the original distress signal for Prometheus
