From Weiland Insdustries Website: "WEYLAND MODULAR COMPUTING DEVICE Invented in 2024. Perfected in 2073. The Weyland Modular Computing Device (WMCD) can provide audio, visual and kinesthetic enhancement to any room, anywhere. The WMCD picks up live video feeds from a remote receiver and fills any space with the sights and sounds of that environment in real-time. The WMCD can also recreate a full-surround environment of a specific location from any point in time for academic study or personal entertainment." That's where the SJ's running hologram scene must come from...

Good find... The weyland site seems to give several hints from the movie...
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids? They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

@Macs I'm not sure what your conclusion is suggesting? I think the interpretation of this thing is that it can recreate what it may have recorded, but - unless it, or it's receiver, was there to record the SJ's - I'd wonder how could it recreate them?...By that token, it would just as well be able to recreate the Battle of Waterloo, or the sinking of the Titanic?... I think maybe the original recording we observe is probably someone else's, not the crews'...

I think is just a decoration device (imo)...we see it in function in the scene with vickers alone with shaw and halloway ...there is a sea behind . I dont think human technology cant interface so easily with SJ's one but who knows !!!

@allinamberclad I believe this box is generating the holographic images of the running SJ's in the newest preview: The box is like a baby monitor it seems, letting you know visually exactly what is going on on another room (in full holographic glory). It must rely on another monitoring device (maybe those red laser scanning balls) it looks like. The quote comes from the website and recreating only means visually...

@Macs Yes, I appreciate it, "only means visually", in this context...........? I'm just pointing that what you're proposing is that this device will have recorded SJ's, or whoever they are, running amok through the halls - at some point in the "present"?.. It strikes me as more likely that they'll have accessed and activated someone else's, or something else's recording - one that might be a billion years old - similar to, or as part of, their activation of that alien navigation holography that this recording so much resembles.....just from a dramatic perspective... But, anyway, as @Frantz says: who knows.

@allinamberclad yeah it's only speculation. The box, according to Weyland, "picks up live video feeds from a remote receiver and fills any space with the sights and sounds of that environment in real-time". It is possible also that it is not the box generating those images of course..
