The sexual organ that will be part of the disturbing aspect of the film. Also, why do I get the feeling that the Engineers don't need or posses penises, maybe the cobra is to Engineers, what facehuggers are to aliens.

That's actually a very good point karstenphd. Remember there was suggestions from Ridley that there was very perverse things going on on that planet. Very un-civilized behavior ;-)

because H R Giger its a twisted fuck and he likes sexual thing in paints or something like that
KarstenphdMay 04, 2012
I am so glad that I am not the only one seeing this. I am trying to get away from human and mammal reproduction to some creepy Gigeresqueness. Super sperm and your the Ova!

SpartacusMay 04, 2012
look, we all know by default by now that everything Giger and Scott do or yes, do together, is going to be most provocative and certainly in it's most naturalistic form...people, it's a given.
sukkalMay 04, 2012
I suspect that the cobra is not a part of the Engineers’ reproductive cycle, but they could easily be humanoid without having two sexes.
The Newborn in Resurrection, was essentially intersex (before the studio freaked out and had that feature removed in post).

That could mean (assuming that the Engineers fiddled with the xeno DNA) that they don’t really distinguish between masculinity and femininity the way it’s evolved on (and is important for genetic diversity on) Earth.

Sometimes the Engineers strike me as powerful shot callers, manipulating this and creating that, at other times more subservient and Eunuch like, almost like guardians.

SpartacusMay 04, 2012
I like that and it is perfectly in line with what we all perceive as Giger's and Scott's typical thought patterns it would seem.

KarstenphdMay 04, 2012
So, any thoughts on were that thing (Cobra) is originating from as it's swimming (urn, Engineer pants, just hangin around the Temple) or if it is in league with the Engineers in some symbiotic way? Or is it the cause of death and mayhem for the Engineer race, exploding heads, bodies strewn about temple.
sukkalMay 04, 2012
so "intersex" is considered "perverse"....really...?!?
Not by me. Not in the least. My reply to the topic was not related to Cypher's comment.
I'm saying that intersex traits or a paradigm of ‘non-gender’ might be the NORM for the Engineers. I'm not familiar with this reported comment by Ridley that there were “perverse things going on on the planet.”
I will find the Engineers much more interesting if they are NOT simply “males (who have lost their females)” as some have posited here.
KarstenphdMay 04, 2012
@shardy, when did anyone say intersex was considered perverse? What am I missing? I would consider mobile genitalia perverse, espescially if "No means NO!!" doesn't apply, lol.

Ya "member" The Running Jockey in The Tunnels...?...
I think they...true Xeno's...may be guarding the Ampule Room, as Murals in the walls that come to life when the vials are disturbed.
Yet another in a long line of whacked out predictions by yours truly.
artyohMay 04, 2012
Judging from the "C-section" scene, and the vagisnake, it's pretty clear we're going to see a psychosexual freak-show......which is exactly as it should be. heh heh

Leave while you can!! Yeah,I'm wondering what would make those big mean Engineers piss their pants. Vagisnake, cool.

EGR101May 05, 2012
The Xeno-Cobra organism resembles a stylised vagina (with a gigantic clitoris) more than a penis and 2 balls. When it opens up it does not look like a vagina at all...It looks like a winged angle with bowing head and clasped hands as if to pray. This is a very bold design by PROMETHEUS team.

CypherMay 05, 2012
vagisnake- I like that :-P better than anything with Xeno in it, sorry EGR but I hate that word in the Alien universe...... Speshully in regards to anything new in this movie..........

AshmodeanMay 05, 2012
When I read the word "Vagisnake" it sounds like a whisper in my head like one of those pretentious perfume commercials.

ZetaReticuliMay 05, 2012
I like that 'remote' genitalia theory here, also the 'vagina cobra' becoming
an angel symbol EGR101, that's genius. I remember reading something along the lines of the Facehugger being described as an 'ambulatory penis'. I think it was in the Scanlon and Gross 'Book of Alien'.

the comingMay 05, 2012
yes it's what's on the tip of everyone's tongue....Tyler Durden and me just gave it a name...

sukkalMay 05, 2012
I like the camelsnake...good design...
Something tells me this is NOT the term that will go down in the history books for it.

CrazyDave55811May 25, 2012
Well obviously the creature is based off of H.R. Giger's concepts, so of course it's going to look sexual. This creature looks like a penis (or a sperm, depending on the angle) and has a mouth that looks like a china. Though if this creature is compared to the Facehugger, which doesn't look like a penis but has an orifice resembling a vagina (where the tube comes out to lay the egg in a host), I'd say the Cobralien has a smaller vagina. You can interpret this however you like.
KarstenphdMay 25, 2012
They did want the egg's opening in in Alien to be a vagina according to abordoli in a recent post by Id Rather Be Eatin Somethin Else. Maybe someone could look at the closed organism as being male genitalia, when opened it appears to be female, lips, clitoris, urethra, etc.
KarstenphdMay 25, 2012
Maybe someone could put up a screen shot of it open and closed to compare the two.

CrazyDave55811May 31, 2012
You know, when the Cobralien or whatever unfolds its hood, it looks like an unfolded vagina, and the round-ish part is reminiscent of a clitoris. It's just something I noticed when I was looking at, uh, erm.....stuff. I saw it and the shape reminded me of the Cobralien with its hood unfolded.
KarstenphdJune 03, 2012
LOL, Giger. I don't know at times when I'm looking at his artwork if my "feelings" are appropriate. Am I the only one whose thinking is *$%&^@ up!
