I've watched a few of those Ancient Alien episodes and laugh at me if you will but I am a "closet" Alien Seed Theorist (Transpermia).
Man, I watch waaaaay too much sci-fi..... ; )
Note: I do not subscribe to it as a 'religion' of sorts. Just a loosely held "esoteric" belief. I make no claims that there is any truth in this so, please, nobody get their panties twisted.

Wasn't that the temple that was overrun by the Xenomorphs spawned during one of the Predators Rite of Passage Events in AVP and the last surviving Predator detonated some sort of device that wiped out the entire population, xeno's, survivors and all.

that's absolutely correct of the first film...but I was talking about what REALLY happened here.

One thing that makes this show entirely credible and what most people never got is that they start EVERY SINGLE EPISODE WITH THE EXTREMELY CREATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE THINKING QUESTION..."WHAT IF...?..."
Yet another is that it was all produced and is presented by Ken Burns and his very highly profiled Production Company..."Prometheus Productions".

@Sparty,
Truth be told, I have found the Ancient Alien series to be too boring to watch (maybe I watched the wrong ones, I dunno). I am a huge fan of the 13 episodes of Nova's Carl Sagan series, Cosmos. Some overlap and there is some repetition, but I think they were amazingly done.

Are you referring to the fact that this was supposedly a temple where the Mayans practiced ritual blood sacrifices? Otherwise the only thing I know is that because of the shape of the steps going down the balistrade it appears that a serpant is rippling down the side of the temple March 21st on the Vernal Equinox. September 21st the Autumnal equinox the shadow ripples proceed up the steps as if Kukulkan whom the temple is devoted to is leaving.

Are you referring to the shadow phenonenon where the shadow ripples created by the steps along the balistrade proceed down the steps on the vernal equinox on March 21st and return to the heavens on the Autumnal equinox on September 21st. Also this is Kukukan's temple and it's rumored to be the site of many ritual blood sacrifices.

No but that's really cool, and seeing the video of it in the episode was really freaking cool, and there is a break down of a guy recording it live on the link I provided which is very very cool, but what I am referring to is The Mayans dragging people up the steps they built on them structures for the sole purpose of dragging people...human beings..their brothers and sisters up them steps they built for just this purpose to be sacrificed up there by ripping out their hearts and squeezing the blood of their hearts into the stones of the steps to become one with what they saw come down from above and so called them g-ds!!!

I do believe Sparty, that the Mayans sacrificed their own for the Gods. I do believe I have seen some History channel stuff on it. I could be wrong but I do know their were human and animal sacrifices their. It is funny, some friends of mine are there now and I told one of them to watch out for the other because the other one might sacrifice something lol. Hope not though.

">Essentially, if the harvests were not good (i.e. not enough rain), march more "offerings" up those steps till a sign happen. Rinse & repeat. Ah, the simple days....
