@FW: Ah, now me understand. So, I guess the (baited) question is now, would you be 'happier' with an NC-17 rating, or is the 'R' rating enough to give us a sigh of relief? 'R' would certainly get a much bigger audience in. A PG-13 Prometheus? That would have to be xenos dancing out in tuxedos or something... a space jockey horn section revue... ...sorry, channeling [i]Spacelballs[/i] for some reason...

I went on the MPAA site, the Canadian Version as well, and for both a search on the film itself turns up empty, no results, it still has No official rating in either the U.S. Or Canada.

I don't know why FOX should be nervous about an R rating. [i]Aliens[/i] was rated R and it raked in the big bucks for them. It was HUGE. I'm happy with an R, too. The stuff in the trailers doesn't look PG-13 to me. Bet I'm saying stuff that's already been argued in those posts you're talking about.

@Newt I'm not sure how my 'happiness' is an issue or it's place in posting here...kinda lost me there. My happiness was absolutely guaranteed the moment I heard RS was coming back to sci-fi ! No matter what the rating! We simply can't lose. @Sparty Unlawful to sell an unrated movie ticket to minors here..and I don't think that California gets it's own rating...grain of salt, maybe ask your fellow staff about that.

I guess I am just thinking of recent films that they have had. Also it doesn't matter if it is rated R, the film could not be that good (i.e. AvP, AvPR). I am not saying it wont be good because I think it will be quite good.

@Newt79, My guess is that there was so much debate, between fans anyway's, to rate the film PG-13 or R, IMHO, there is no chance in hell it will be NC-17. FOX would not allow that to happen. I think that FOX is maybe a little nerves with an R. I am completely ok with an R rating.

@FW I just meant no Official rating, and Cali is a lot like Quebec with regard to the rest of the country it is in and film ratings, sometimes they just go ahead, the state does that is, and just sets it;s own. I think this is Exactly why.

Non-IMAX-3D Tickets are available right now on Fandango and there is no mention of the rating anywhere.
