Prometheus Officially Rated R! from this MOMENT

I wouldn't use Collider (or any other non-official site) as a source - this is such a 'hot topic' that I'll believe it when I see it on the MPAA's site, or Fox's.

I feel its only a matter of time now, my money is on "R"

Don't you think Prometheus is going to be on MPAA tomorrows bulletin? If Collider's right, then tomorrow MPAA and Fox could confirm this officialy. I think this could be legit. Finally.

Great news if this is genuinely true, although the description comments kinda make it seem as if it's a 'soft' R. However, that's preferable to a PG-13 rating...although I still have a sneaking suspicion that the stronger cut wasn't submitted in the first place, and we'll see further footage in a 'harder' R version on a future Blu-ray release...

I went to MPAA's web site looking for the rating for Prometheus and apparently there's another site that MPAA.org will redirect you to called www.filmratings.com where you can search on a movie title to find the MPAA's rating of it. I searched on prometheus and there were NO search results (yet). As a test, I searched on "Avengers" and got two results both of which were PG-13.

I think that if we get what's been shown so far in the final release, it will be an R rating....the scenes with Shaw alone are disturbing enough for the average viewer.

when i imagine this movie in my head, anything less than R and it starts to look dumbed-down like a disney project or avataresque audience grab. something for the kids is exactly what i dont want.

I posted this in the News section before I figured out it wasn't a disscusion thread so I wanted to re-post it here... [i]Cool. Personally, I didn't care what the film was rated. I knew it wasn't going to be a bloodfest or anything. This just confirms that the "sci-fi violence and intense images" will be quite disturbing which is great. I hope it has close to the same impact that the original Alien had back in the day ie the usher that passed out when Ash had his head knocked off and people puking in the bathrooms. We all know what a tall order that is and I'm pretty sure it's impossible but at least we know they're trying. I mean, how many films have "violence(of whatever kind) and intense images" that are rated pg-13. Pretty much every film that comes out at theatres and has those reasons for the rating are pg-13 these days. They can show pretty horrific and intense stuff and still get a pg-13. RS and co. are obviously pushing the boundries. Which should come as no surprise.[/i]
