OK, I finished the story, and now I'm wondering if Prometheus will follow the story closely or not, as it is definitely a product of ATMOM. If Scott copies it completely, it actually wouldn't be a bad movie at all.

What BigDave write is very very interesting ...but the original thread was discussed to death huh

I didn't read the original thread. But crikey! I'd say there is a lot of similarities in the Mountains of Madness story to what we are expecting from Prometheus. Could this be an influence? It seems very possible.

It will be interesting to see what Prometheus brings, as the Shaws Baby is Octopus like and i think would be some kind of Face Hugger just not the Xeno ones as i think they exsisted years before and i think are what killed the Engineers off.
But i spoke to someone who showed me some images on the internet that i linked here ages ago, that he said was what he saw on set and in the props room and concept art.
He said the Xeno in this movie, is like a crossbetween a Xeno that has a head that has tenticles a bit like the Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean) only not so long and only 4 of them. And that it has 2 or 4 tenticles.

He said it looks like the above only has 2 or 4 tenticles aswell as arms and it has some near the mouth but apart from that its spot on.
Now someone when i posted this said well thats from Alien Hunter which it looks like a bit....
But then weeks and weeks after, when we got that new Mural of the Engineer and some kind of creature that creature looks a lot like what that person described.
This person went on to say however that David 8 gets changed by the substance and there are 4 Jockeys and the Mutated Crewmen turn into what look like Pumpkin Head....
So i dont know wether to take his words seriously. Oh he also says only Vickers Survives.
Sorry for going off Topic, but my post was kind of comparing the creature in Mountains of Madness, with the Alien Script Star Beast and its connections to maybe what the creature will look like in this movie.

Very Interesting i would have to watch that, i read the plot and it does look simular.
Also Planet or the Vampires seems simular so its as if Mountains of Madness and Planet of the Vampires are both movies that Prometheus takes inspiration on, also looking at the Orginal Alien Script.
So Prometheus does seem to take parts of
Mountains of Madness
Planet of the Vampires
Orginal Alien Script (Star Beast)
Alien (System, Derelict, Jockey and Xeno)
Gigers unused Dune Pyramid Concepts.
Throw in the Ancient Civilisation and Prometheus Myths and add a story behind Weyland and there Agenda.
And you pretty much have a back bone for this movie.
I did say my reasons for why the Jockeys was nearly all dead, and for the Xeno.
And after now looking at Mountains of Madness and how the Elders created Shoggoth's to perform some kinds of tasks. But the Shoggoth wiped their creators all out.
If thats whats going on in Prometheus then i guess my ideas i had a while back are spot on.
The Shoggoth actually is not that far off what is described of the Star Beast in the Original Alien Script which later became the Xeno and inspired by Gigers work instead.
Ok the Shoggoth is described as a shapeless mass of protoplasmic material but its depicted as having some form.

That looks like a cross between the Original Star Beast and the Blob.
The Shaggoth is from Lovecraft's Cthulhu Stories

The Cthulhu's head actually looks a lot like Shaws Baby and the orginal Alien Script Face Huggers was described as being Octopus like and the Xeno as some beast with 6 limbs and 4 tenticles.

I'm reading the story right now, and so far it seems to be very much the inspiration for Prometheus.
