Well I think it might not be that to be honest ... But then my mind says ... if it's strong enough to contract and break arms? ... then maybe it's tail like 'foot?' is powerful enough to do MAJOR whacking action back an forth ... Doesn't evolution tend to 'add' certain features to compliment creatures abilities though? ... i.e. a Woodpecker has an absorbent 'rubber like' buffer protection, so it doesn't do itself an injury ... then take a normal Cobra ... if that kept smashing things it would pulverized itself ... I cannot see anything on the 'SpaceCobra' that would prevent it from smashing itself to bits if it HAMMERED things ... ;) ... if it has, then coolio ... I'd love it ... But you get my meaning though, eh? ... :) ...

....Hammerpede. That works. I am curious what the designers and marketing team are refering to it as? I had become accustom to using Cobraliene before discovering you Hammerpede. .....How much of the films has actually been revealed? Am I missing something? Until the film is release the theories we suspose are only speculation to create anxiety for the release of the film....NO!? If there is a discussion, blog, or any publication that I may have missed that has confirmed what will be depicted and intended on screen when the film is release, please someone direct me to it.

Hammer: because of it's "hammer head" face Pede: because it's probably more of a centipede than a snake.... But, hey, who knows....could be a whole other creature, honestly

@Gemini...i dont think they're calling it hammerpede (if its legit) because it "hammers" things, but because the head is somewhat shaped like a hammer, like the hammerhead shark.

@Windood it was very very gross. the description for the movie didnt explain what it really was.... i assumed it was an 80's style experimental monster with centepede and human DNA. but i was wrong... i was so wrong. not a movie to watch while trying to eat chocolate candy.

Alsoknowasnate got it right. centipedes are nasty little poisonous "invertebrate" (probably the defining characteristic separating it from snakes) carnivores, and the giant ones prey on bats, and small animals.

i believe they are venomous, not poisonous.

@ Bella the human centipede...I can't believe I watched it in its entirety!! Disturbing.

Perhaps is does relate to something we haven't seen -- after all, the "-pede" in "centipede" comes from the Latin for foot ... though, something with hammers for feet would be odd.

@ IrishAndroid1 yeah i watched the whole thing :/ its very rare that i stop watching a movie without seeing the end. i can count the movies i havent finished on one hand.

Not entirely convinced the Cobralien is the Hammerpede...calling it so doesnt make sense with what weve seen of it so far...still

@ Frantz, intially I entertained the same possibility based on the derelict's port prong resembling a ''hammerhead'' but I suspect the other comments to be more feasible. Take care.

yeah thats where i saw it :( they have both of them on netflix now, ugh. they are missing really good movies on that site but they have THAT kind of garbage instead. heard about the second one before they started filming it, it sounds really dumb and gross. if i want to see sexual gore and poo they already have plenty of that on the internet. (but no thank you, dark side of the internet)

Scott said that the creature evolves in different stages and so maybe the Hammerpede is an advanced version of the Space-Cobra. In fact I keep seeing it like a cobra and not as a centipede to me IMHO

Shambhala...i believe you first coined the term asshugger...why are you not livid this piece of folklore has not made it to the soundtrack?? They used space jockey goddamit maybe if we say it enough times it will make an appearance on the P2 MPS...`Love theme to Asshugger`

Hammerpede seems more like the creature that *SPOILER* ....shoots out of Milburns mouth and appears to enter Fords throat area perhaps just in her suit (maybe making her do the convulsion dance we've seen). I think that's the creature maybe called the hammerpede, I'll grab some nice pics in a second and post em below.
