MemberOvomorphMay-11-2012 3:55 PMI don't know if Giger has haver come to Portugal, but there is a chapel in Évora dating from the XVII century, that would make him shiver.
That palce is called [i]Capela dos Ossos[/i] - The Chapel of Bones
It is almost entirelly made of [b]human skulls and bones[/b] and the main purpose for it to ever exist is to remind how transitory life is.
At the entrance of the chapel one can read the warning:
"[i]Nós ossos que aqui estamos pelos vossos esperamos[/i]"
"We, bones, here being, for those of yours await"

The well-known story of the Bone Church (‘Ossuary’ to be more correct or ‘Kostnice’ in Czech) in Kutná Hora is that, in the 13th century, Jindřich, the abbot of Sedlec monastery, returned from a visit to Palestine with a pocketful of soil and sprinkled it on the cemetery surrounding the Chapel of All Saints:

Didn't know about Capela dos Ossos, although I've been to Évora a couple of times on my way to Algarve (staid in Évora Hotel).
By the way, strongly recoment it anyone in the forum! If you ever come to Portugal, check out the Alentejo region. Its coast line is incredible, and there are some really cool hotels there! Peace and quiet for every one ;)
On the other hand, if you're looking for excitement, try Algarve out too...
Oh! And I also thought there was only one Gigger bar. Guess I was wrong hehe
