Is the film totally finished?

man, guess what..
just imagine if the individual movie copies for all international movie theaters would NOT be shipped in the right time..this process alone takes weeks..

I don't know if any of the above fans are insiders of 20th century Fox..if they are they know better and I respect them
If not, from my experience as a 3D artist, they could still be possibly waiting for some final rendering to finish, or they could be re-polishing some shots before actual reliease...But in any case they must have ensured full completion, before the premiere...

its of course ...once it got the rating i think there are no way to change it ...and the good news is that it "passed" ( or its better to say it havent passed ) the censorship without any kind of cut .

Actually a film can get its rating before all the editing is completed, ratings depend upon certain aspects of the film such as foul language, nudity, sex, violence etc. and usually those scenes are the first to be cut and edited for perusal of the censors. Whereas dialogue scenes, musical score and SFX scenes usually go through numerous iterations before the final theatrical cut is released.
Anyone that has listened to the commentaries on movies will have often heard of how a film was not fully edited until days, sometimes hours before premiere release for these very reasons, therefore i would not be so sure that the film is fully cut as of yet, especially when taking into account Ridleys visionary and perfectionist nature.

Yeah i am also a 3d artist and familiar with the time it can take to render things perfectly.....in my mind....no the process is not complete...you can always add more...that extra frame or two.....so until release date i can imagine people working 24/7...crunching away....if it's anything like the gaming industry witch i have been involved in!

@Juxtapose:Probably it is like gaming, but even more demanding...From what I am hearing around, soon the cinematics between the game, will be so much and so demanding that a game development will fully resemble a movie production.
@:Snorkelbottom:Yeah, editing and rating, is beyond my field, so you guys know better.

That's why i am so glad i am not involved with artwork on major consoles and pc anymore.....I am so much happier working on ISO games...tiny team with so much less stress and deadlines....seriously i am now to old for that shit....did it for long enough....not sleeping for 2 weeks ain't fun!...even tho u wanne sleep....your mind is always working....conceptualizing and burnout is always just one step away!...i recently went through that after excepting a job at a local graphic designer company...nah never again...freelance is the way to go....for me at least!
