A quite interesting read about the Alien film has been posted on AliensvsPredatorSpectrum.com, on how the Alien, Facehuggers and Chestbursters were actually, originally meant to be translucent! "Ridley Scott originally wanted all three alien forms to be translucent to match Giger's paintings. Giger started work on a translucent Facehugger. Ridley wanted you to see the skeletal structure of the Facehugger so a skeleton for the creature was cast in plaster. Rodger Dicken made some Chestburster concepts using latex. The latex dried to a particular colour which Ridley liked and decided the Facehugger should be the same..." Original Alien costume concept design Read the entire article: here. Yep, it's mentioned on the making of parts in the boxset. i made a post earlier and commented on how, although he officially has less of a role in this film, more of Gigers ideas and concepts seem to be being used. Or rather the technology and FX (and budget) is there to do that properly this time. Great photo

this is a pretty cool looking concept, too bad it didn't work out the way the had hoped it would with todays technology, it could work out really well perhaps we will see a glimpse of this see-thru concept in this new film, or perhaps not(?) would be great though

In the final cut we can see the shadow of the alien walking in that ridiculous way, with Lambert looking down. But when you can't see it it's soooo much better. I for one I am happy that the alien is not translucent, too much of a Gummi Alien.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
