The Big Head's wound

Hi all, first post here so be gentle on me! Just something i have noticed, that I don't think has been discussed before, but on the international posters for Prometheus (and in fact the background wallpaper for this site) shows the big head, but with what looks like damage below the left eye, with smoke comng off it. If you look at the trailers and stills so far they show no such damage to the head. This seems to indicate that this damage occurs late on in the film. This looks suspiciously like the sort of damage that the Xeno acid would do. I am just wondering why they would show the damaged head as opposed to the undamaged one. Perhaps they are trying to tell us that whatever creature appears in this film it still shares the Xeno trait of acidic blood. Which would be good?

Yeah I can that, but if you look at the picture below you can see a big burn mark under the eye that is not a symbol. [img]http://filmpopper.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Prometheus-Movie-Poster.jpg[/img] Hope the link above works. Cheers

However, I can see something that looks like damages caused by something like water that has been running frequently from both eyes for many years... Perhaps this is where the tar-like water from the trailer used to come out from. If you look at the first poster you can see this damage beneath both eyes. Imagine if the head actually used to cry black tar-like water from both eyes like some kind of fountain... Creepy!

The head should look very ancient but somehow technical, be reminiscent of ancient temples and statues like egyptian, mesopotamian or else. the porpose of the hieroglyphic script in the face I dunno..

I think tribal face modifications look closer here because it seems ridley wanted to connect this with old civilizations.

Hi Seb79, I've just joined today, so I'm new too... although I've been 'lurking' on the boards for some time XD. @ Macs, I agree with what you're saying. I've read on some other thread that somebody thought the carved symbols looked like tear marks and I think the look of despair means that this 'guardian' is perhaps weeping over what it perceives as 'failed' creations. At this stage, this is all speculation though.

Yeah I read that in the article when I bought the issue to read during my lunch break (last month?). I am totally in love with the art direction and design on this one, almost as much as the original!
