New screening report

MemberOvomorphMay 14, 20124802 Views131 RepliesSo I was checking AVP Galaxy this morning as I usually do, and I stumbled upon someone that has supposedly seen an advance screening of the film.
The guy writes a little preface:
"Hello after searching online to discuss prometheus i found this fan site. I along with others who sent comments via facebooks 'areyouseeingthis' were invited to see a special screening of Prometheus in London. I sent a facebook message on it how amazing the trailer looked and how I'm not a scifi fan but this has hyped me up for the film. I got a PM via email from 20th century fox who invited me to see the film. I didn't have to pay for ticket but i did have to pay the £67 in travelling expenses."
I've read his description of the plot and...well. Its different. Nothing like we've heard before. He doesn't push to hit any of the plot points that we've discovered through our collective analysis on this forum. And his plot description answers a really BIG debate a lot of us have been having here. I can only find one contradiction to what we already (think) we know.
I would suggest giving this a read just out of curiosity. Please let me know what you think.
[Just a quick addition:]
There is one factor that makes me think this might actually be real:

And this quote from Arthur Max (production designer) from an interview in SFX magazine:
“This race of interplanetary visitors who have given us upgrades – mentally and physically – over the millennium”.
(You'll know what I mean if you read the article)

with a 99% of probability this is the final attack of the Trolls before the premiere, just that...
with a 1% (spoiler warning) Prometheus is the beginning of a new trilogy and the sequel will be called Magellan and the last film will be a reboot of Alien, but now called Nostromo...XP

Been here, done this, 8 hours ago, looks like it was spammed to all sites like this one. I really can't believe it at all now that I've seen that it was posted all over the place.

@HAL 9000 The point? I'm surprised you have to ask. Just do me a favour, scroll to the top of your page and read the title of this forum...have you managed that? Well, I'll tell you what it reads just in case you found that a little tricky.
Prometheus Movie News, Information & Community
Were here to discuss the film. In the exact same way that we analyse trailers, and we read press interviews with the cast and crew, it is also fun to share plot theories and supposed screening reports. That's all. Just a little read for the people on the forum.

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
....aaaand here comes another one people, run for shelter! LOL
So, in good old fashion:

Dave_bMay 14, 2012
Do not read this....it will ruin your expectations for the film. I read 2 lines and realized that the information seems completely legit and should remain completely secret if you want an awe inspiring experience. DO NOT READ....SPOILERS SUPREME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
Well said Cypher. But to be fair, it says "...but I did have to pay the £67 in travelling expenses". Nevertheless, it is an ENTIRELY different thing to dissect a trailer or dive into the viral marketing campaign opposed to read the plot of the film. I mean please, you can't be serious and compare this!?!

JuxtaposeMay 14, 2012
....oh god...i read it.....and i hate myself for it.....not sure if it's true tho...could be?.....i kinda hope it's not!...even tho it sounds like a great movie...not crazy about the way certain things turn out tho....their is a lot of stuff their that sounds like it might be true....not sure about that last 8-12 minutes tho?
I seriously hope i did not go and spoil it for myself!

MentosMay 14, 2012
@Juxtapose I know how you feel. Its seems legit to me. The poster even outright says : "I'm not a sci-fi fan" so this is a pedestrians recollection.
The thing that makes me believe this most is the picture I posted in my original post. And this quote from Arthur Max:
“This race of interplanetary visitors who have given us upgrades – mentally and physically – over the millennium.” (from the SFX interview).

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
What IS the point in all this?? Even if you've read it, would you believe it is genuine? With so many fakes around by now? I'd just see it as another speculation. The only truth you will see is when you're all seated with your coke and popcorn ready! I won't even bother reading this to be honest... no interest in it whatsoever. But go and knock yourselves out.
Gosh, I wish it was 1979...

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
This is a genuine bacon bomb as we've all seen it... or is it Shaw's squiddie toddler in the new leaked script? ...OR is it maybe something entirely different altogether?

JuxtaposeMay 14, 2012
@mentos
i should not have read it...i remember how i was very hesitant and then in a moment of utter weakness my finger clicked on the mouse.....and i wanted to stop reading....but i just could'nt.....I'm so fucking weak!!!!
Now i can only pray it's false.....tho on the other hand...it kinda sounds like a good plot?

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
The only relevant question on this is: Why would anyone want to know the plot of the movie, whether it is legit or not?? And for the record, I'm not attacking you personally here, if you read what I wrote properly.
Cypher, of course these things spread like bushfire, which is SUCH a shame.
EDIT: We had the very same report already here earlier, and it was NOT well received. The thread disappeared as fast as it popped up, and I personally think it should be the same with this one. No one blames you for posting it Mentos.

MentosMay 14, 2012
Well why would we want to dissect the trailers? Its the same thing. Are you telling me you never read a single supposed plot? They're just fun to read!

CypherMay 14, 2012
*drools @ the bacon bomb*
Mentos, they posted the exact same thing here, so I'm thinking that it was bull, because if they posted the same message in a different forum, what would the point be? Word would have gotten around, and I really can't see someone who is a) not a sci-fi fan or b) not a member of any of the various forums devoted to Prometheus, why the HELL would Fox invite them to a screening? And why would THEY pay the 67 pound it cost them to travel?
The dots just don't connect for me.............. And I'm really starting to think someone is simply stirring the pot again, because frankly, a lot of us could have pieced together the bits and pieces that have been floating around again....................

JuxtaposeMay 14, 2012
...perhaps fox will remove it.....that might be an indication that it indeed is the real thing, somebody at fox must have read it by now?......or maybe it was planted by fox as a red herring....who knows for sure till we see it....i

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
No way FOX would stand a chance of removing it after it has spread like this. And all the other versions before have done so in the same way, but they also disappeared that way... No one cares in the end. At least not the devoted fans like most of us here are.

CypherMay 14, 2012
That's why I think it's bullcrap HAL ;-) but you never know, this close to release Fox might just give up on trying to keep this stuff secret anymore................

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
Just one more thing on this. Of course I'm curious but I can contain or discipline myself to not read it. However, I do save all of them including source url in order to look at them after having seen the movie. That is exciting enough for my part and then we'll see what was crap and what wasn't.
But I assume that no one REALLY cares about it much anymore after the movie is out. I'll most certainly care about booking the next ticket...

SaintsSinphonyMay 14, 2012
it wasn't taken down because it was bull it was taken down because some people can be real assholes to people for no reason. the dude put it up and people started calling him out on it (very rudely) then it was taken down so no one got a chance to make their mind up on it. the dude is nice and I talked to him about it for awhile he went into detail on some things that make sense i let some people read his review that have other prometheus related web sites and they wanted to ask the dude a few more questions also before just telling him off
what i hate about this whole community is how simple minded everyone can be. damn we accept these movies (alien and such) as a real thing then someone sees a pre screening (supposedly) and everyone just flips out.

SaintsSinphonyMay 14, 2012
damn
why can't people just read it or choose not to then ask questions if they want to know more or just leave it alone i don't know if the guy saw it or not but I have talked with him and he dosn't seem like an asshole i think the dude just wanted to share a review with a website im goin to work after i type this comment so you guys can say what you want and if i came across as harsh im sorry but i do get tired of the simple mindedness of this "community"

SaintsSinphonyMay 14, 2012
also i read it and I like it better than half these cracked pot ideas most people have about the movie so there's my 2 cents

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
@ Saints: Simply because I do NOT want this one to be spoiled for me, a movie I have been waiting for since about 25 years! And I think every dedicated, devoted fan feels exactly the same way! I am scared to bits about reading any of those 'leaked' reports because of that, so I don't do it. I'd be deeply sad sitting in the cinema, suddenly realising I DID read a genuine report and knowing what will happen next.
But I agree with you that if people start reasoning about it, they should respect each other and do it in an appropiate, non-abusive way, No need to get personal indeed.

CypherMay 14, 2012
Actually, it was taken down from here for a variety of reasons, one of which was one of our new staff wasn't sure it should be up here in the first place without a spoiler tag, and since you aren't privy to how we try to work things around here Saints you get the benefit of the doubt, but the fact is that the guys around AVP Galaxy are younger than many of the members here, we are (mostly) 30 plus years old and don't take stuff like this without a grain of salt or ten, alot of us grew up watching the Alien movies, and our staff member (who shall remain nameless) did what he thought was the right thing to do after he read it himself. And I actually went and had a look at the AVPGalaxy site, and it looks like that many people there are also dis-believing of this.
I personally would like to hear from someone at Fox as to whether or not this screening actually happened. If that confirms that what was posted was real, so be it, I read it and didn't think it looked legit, but I still haven't completely made up my mind about it. Mostly I'm leaning towards BS though.
Also, I can understand your position, but remember, this is the Internet where everyone has a voice and isn't afraid to use it.

Dave_bMay 14, 2012
Identifying something as a spoiler or suggesting the reader be wary of possibly ruining an otherwise epic film event is comletely legitimate. Censorship is not. Are those two concepts hard to grasp? Ultimately, it IS up to the individual.

JuxtaposeMay 14, 2012
...i liked the story...i am mad at myself for reading it cause if it's the real deal...then i have spoiled it for myself...well to a degree...still looking forward to actually seeing the movie as much as ever!...

CypherMay 14, 2012
Dave_b, there was no spoiler tag on the post at all when it was posted originally, and as I have explained previously we are trying to keep it as fresh for everyone as possible, we did not censor anything, it appeared on other sites at the same time as here with the exact same wording that I think was carefully tailored to make it look as if it was a "scoop" for every website devoted to this movie. And the staff member that deleted the post did so after reading it himself and deciding that it was juicy enough to be considered legit. Our Administrator is currently working on a way for people that have seen it to discuss it away from the eyes of people that have not, and IF this were real, I believe that Fox would have made the people seeing this "advanced screening" sign something saying that they must not discuss it until much closer to release. I would have if I were them. Their legal team would have been all over something like this.
As I've said earlier, dots just don't connect for me in regards to this........

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

HAL 9000May 14, 2012
@Dave_b: Yes but also about that particular individuals' fairness towards others in the community. Mark a thread clearly as potential spoiler - done. Then it's up to everyone to decide whether to read further or not. Can't be too hard to give it a proper description in the subject. Easy.
Damn, Cypher you type fast... must be the BACON! lol

CypherMay 14, 2012
I agree HAL, and that was another reason it was taken down, there was no spoiler tag to warn people, we COULD have added one to the thread title but I think if it wasn't there in the first place then the poster couldn't have had much respect for those of us that didn't want to see such "spoiler-ish" information, why should we correct that? We aren't their mothers..........
While I understand that "areyouseeingthis" may have wanted to share the experience with others, if true, it still does not excuse not putting a spoiler warning in the thread title, and they could have asked any of the staff members here to review it first and then decide where and how to post it. It's called common courtesy, I would use it, so I expect others to.

DiesektorMay 14, 2012
GUYS IM A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL PRESS. i have applied to go and see an advance screening of the film and they knocked me back saying it would only be viewable from 1St June
I have very good credentials and this chap is either one lucky mother fucker or hes talking shit.
Dont read it just in case. Im not.
still Dont want to ruin the surprise.

CypherMay 14, 2012
That was yet another reason I believe it's BS Diesektor, no one outside of Fox I believe has seen this yet. If there had been an advance screening, ANYONE going to see it would have been on FaceBroke within SECONDS posting that they had been invited, or worse, and why has no other descriptions of it appeared from anyone else? If I'd been lucky enough to get invited to something like this I'd let people know I was going to see it, and SOMEONE would have heard something about an advance screening and gone to at the very least hang out at the theater it was supposedly being shown in to catch a glimpse of Ridley or someone that would very likely have been hanging around that had had something to do with the movie, as it is I've seen absolutely nothing like that anywhere. Does no one really think something like this would not have made some sort of national news somewhere, especially in London, of all cities?

C0nst2nt1n3May 14, 2012
@ Cypher. I'm not looking for trouble or anything, but I did see the original thread from areyouseeingthis before it was removed and I did notice that the end of his thread title said something like "major spoilers within."
However, I do admit that it should have started with the word "spoiler"

FrantzMay 14, 2012
I gave it a chance to be true but i think is not ...its just a geek that have compiled a straighforward compilation of trailers scenes . There is no way that a non geek remember so well a movie , and basically there are also just the settings of trailers scenes , nothing really new ,
They would have gave away all the plot of the movie with the trailers , something Lindelof have said they were aware to not do .
A good but flat try to generate some rumors ( imo )
GuestMay 14, 2012
Read it. It blows goats.
Would concur with Cypher in still very much hoping it's fake, however it does have the right feeling of wrongness, so to speak - over-complicated and over-cheesy in a similar manner RS's Robin Hood turned out to be, plus seems to tie unfortunately well with everything from the trailers. If it is a deliberate fake by the marketing campaign, it borders on genius. Well, whichever it turns out to be, I'll go watch the movie - if the review is real (and the movie blows), now I won't be as disappointed as I would have been not knowing it (and I may finally find some comparative respect for the AVP movies), and if it turns out fake, even better, the movie may yet hold nice surprises in store.
