MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 5:55 AMSince it is almost a certainty that there will be two or three new movies regarding Prometheus, maybe we could rethink the trailers in this scope. Not that anything important might change on what we already know...
Just from fan psychology aspect.
We should expect something that will conclude on upcoming movies.
So maybe, we won't get that total feeling we got with the 1979 movie, where we felt a sense of completion (and that would relief us too, at the moment).
I hope that Prometheus, won't just feel like, a prologue to something more important that we are going to watch on the upcoming movies.
I hope it will be original, incredible, and will totally oversatisfy fans appetite.
Even from part one of aTrilogy.
If RS can do that (and I believe he can), for the entire duology or trilogy..I would rest my case happy!

Art DirectorMemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 6:06 AMRS rarely. if at all (please tell me of I'm wrong) sets up a film that leads to another, I believe he will make a cogent and complete piece of entertainment that if he makes a sequel will not effect the course of this film... 17 days and I will see if he can (which I'm sure of) pull off a Science-Fiction film and hopefully dispel this teeny, T and A, computer graphics pap we have been fed (like we had an option) for years!

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 6:27 AMwell if just Prometheus now is linking directly into Alien I in the last 8 minutes, it will be hard to squeeze another two parts in between..

Art DirectorMemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 6:39 AMHey @Kane77, it all depends on how this all links and if RS pulls it backwards with his dislike, (and I understand this) of entering prequel territory... I suppose with creating , (and I hope), what may be the known as the Prometheus legend (or effect) he can go back. How many times do we study or think of being younger?

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 6:43 AMEven if Ridley seems to like the project i doubt he will direct a prometheus sequel ...but even if he do that im pretty sure there is nothing yet on the table.
OF course i hope its just the start of a dinasty ...

Art DirectorMemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 6:45 AMI suppose that would depend on box-office numbers and returns!

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 7:06 AMWell who knows... but I seriously doubt there will be 3 NEW movies.
If we are lucky enough to see a followup to this, that would make a great 6 story collection... sort of like a prequel Trilogy and the final three.
Prometheus
Prometheus followup???... and
ALIEN (1979)
Cameron's sequel could be relegated to the second box set with
Alien cubed &
Regurgitation.
They can leave the AVP nonsense out of any future repackaging of ALIEN boxset collections.

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 7:55 AMThe film is not even out yet & we're talking sequels! Even if its the best sci-fi film ever I can't see RS doing a sequel. He's said before he doesn't do sequels .... although he is doing a prequel so who knows.

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 9:03 AMI based my assumptiion for a duology, on what RS said himself in a documentary spot on Prometheus. Here are his exact (more or less) words: " It's so fun and great to come back to the sci-fi genree with Prometheus, that I have already started thinking about making a Prometheus 2"...more or less.
Now, maybe he said that, out of his entire enthusiasm (said he made him feel young again, like with 1979 Alien). Was he just emphasizing on his enthusiasm, and not really talking about making a sequel. But who knows?
And then, I heard on a TV channel about a trilogy! Were they right?I can't tell for sure.
Surely it's hard to fit two new movies between Prometheus and Alien. And certainly it all depends on box-office impact. No matter the director I reckon.
But you never know. One I know though..I trust RS. I know he will come up with something great...one way or another..

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 9:22 AMI listened to the running commentry with Ridley Scott and some others who worked on Alien and he stated a lot of revealing thought process he was currently under when doing the Alien Quadrilogy Box Set extras and all the rest of it. It is compelling to watch because it adds to some of his thinking that may go into and overall picture that he's possibly forming in his mind about successive films that may follow. He said loosely alog the lines that: "If you were to do another film (Sigourney Weaver then interjecting and talking about wanting to do an Alien 5 and wanting to "return to space"/"go back into space") then you would need it some to go past what we have seen." Ridley Scott then says something along the line of: "If you were then to do another film, it would be the only logical course of action to go with the idea in mind asking the question: 'Where the HELL did they all come from?' (the Xeno's that is up to that point) And even more than that, where did that BIG guy in the CHAIR come from the so called: 'Space jockey'? So in asking THAT question after seeing all of the other Alien films then they all become 'Act One'. Act Two would be to ask the question, where the hell did they all come from in the bloody first place!?"
Let that ruminate for a while!!! :-)

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 9:27 AMIt's been stated more times than I can count (by a number of people involved with the film) that this movie does not link directly into "Alien."
The only inklings that have ever been made is that by the end of the film, in the last 8 or 10 minutes, you "start to realize" that it is evolving into a "pretty good DNA of the first film" (among a number of similar quotes from RS).
That's not really the same thing.

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 10:17 AM@I' de rather be eating something else: Sure thing. There has to be an act 2...like a trilogy maybe?
@John D.:Even that would be enough to satisfy classic alien fans. But I wouldn't mind at all, that Prometheus new stuff they are preparing..Since it feels and breaths xeno DNA everywhere there is no problem with me..
I imagine, other life forms, horrific killing machines, micro and huge, like distant cousins of the 1979 xeno, certainly killing or centence to death the crew, in horrific new ways we can't even imagine. But you will still be getting the same old feeling, of brutality and relentlesness like the 1979 film.
If you can instantly identify every new scene in Prometheus and have the same feeling with the old film, then it will be a guaranteed success.
