MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:36 PMCould it be that these trillions of dollars, could not only be coming from Weyland but being funneled through secretly by Yutani, who has a stake in this mission and when Weyland (thought to be dead) and Vickers go missing, Yutani jumps in to save the company, thus merging with Weyland Corp, that has lost it's leader and VP, Vickers.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:46 PMAccording to their website (Weyland) half is being funded by Weyland, and a quarter each from private parties and the military. If I were Weyland, I would never let the competition in on this action. When they do, they have rights to the discoveries... and the horrors they might bring back.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 4:58 PMIt sort of, and I mean sort of looks like Yutani might run some part of a communications division of Weyland. I sure hope we don't see Yutani in Prometheus, just my opinion...

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 5:01 PMI agree Freeze Him!. We understand they merge (Weyland Industries eats Yutani whole - in Aliens) later but right now it's all about Weyland and his company.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 5:41 PMYutani though small has something to do with this, what part, we hopefully will find out, perhaps being a threat to Weyland, the corp buys them out and clears house...

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 7:06 PMPretty confident that Yutani won't be mentioned in the film at all. The casual viewer would have no idea what it refers to and it would be a distraction from the plot. Unless, of course, Yutani is some sort of central plot point which could be awkwardly forced-seeming.

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 7:13 PMI think thats why they keep it viral, they can do more viral and make it last, into a sequel perhaps. Yeah, perhaps no mention in the movie but they have a vast viral campaign where they can do anything...

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 7:18 PMThere is also the possibility that Yutani plays at least a small part, but one that doesn't overshadow the larger themes and that leaves a lot of room to build upon in a sequel...

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 12:11 AMWell, the Silent Eye video has me nearly convinced that Yutani is involved somehow in the movie.
Yutani obviously learn about Shaw's message to Weyland through the silent eye. Or maybe Weyland is using a Yutani device.
Any word on either Yutani or Weyland having a headquarters in China? I suppose so, but Shaw's message appears to be intercepted by Yutani from a satellite over China
What would you do if you are an ambitious, tech hungry, amoral company trying to get a leg up on Weyland? Send a spy, a spy robot, a spy mechanic, secretly join forces with Weyland (maybe Weyland didn't decide on the expedition until Yutani decides to co-invest?)
Does Vickers represent a Yutani operative? She does seem pessimistic about the mission. Why tell Shaw and Holloway not to make any contact with aliens and only report back to her? (yes, good advice that Milburn should have listened to!!!!) Also, Holloway's question about Vicker's agenda, and the captains remark about Vickers seems like she doesn't want them to succeed (or was it, expect them to fail). Vicker's obviously has an agenda.
Craigamore, so, yea, I think the Yutani angle will be in the movie in some way. If it is too prominent, then the result may be too many moving parts that confuse audiences.
It may even be something we haven't seen yet.

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 12:17 AMI've got one thing to add:
Ms. Yutani: The world isn't ready for this technology.
Col. Stevens: But this isn't for our world, is it, Ms. Yutani?
I don't know what this means and if it's going to have ANY bearing whatsoever in Prometheus or Prometheuses.

MemberDeaconMay-17-2012 9:21 AMI would say the Yutani aspect could be explored in a sequel but then what end of this movie could prove ground for such a thing.
Yes i think Vickers hopes for some reason that this mission comes up maybe empty handed but why?

MemberOvomorphJul-11-2012 5:21 AMI suggest, that Yutani are sending their own spacecraft to lv-223 just after weyland's , and it arrives just when Shaw and David are lifting off the planet with the ancient space craft. Then they decides to follow them.
This way in the sequel there will be enough human appearance to assure the casualties needed for a thrilling movie.

MemberOvomorphJul-11-2012 5:33 AM"....Yutani are sending their own spacecraft to lv-223 just after weyland's ,,,"
Now this seems plausable....and could help in advancing the plot line...
Also the additional discoveries they make on lv-223 could help clear up several mysteries/plotholes present in this movie.
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life

MemberOvomorphJul-11-2012 6:05 AMI like it to, what causes me concern over this maybe NOT happening is the Weyland Prometheus Website and it's own timeline and the past making mention of Yutani taking a Beating in a recent lawsuit they lost to Weyland.
How did they fund something that expensive, or I guess we can just assume They Found a way.
But I do Like this, No matter how much I thought it might happen one day where "The Company" wasn't really Big and Bad anymore but that's clearly a pipe dream now.
LOL.

That comes form the very worst thing I think I ever saw, the 2nd AVP Film...Requiem. which imho was an insult to the entire {"debatable if this is even counted" franchise section} and Demeaned it with just it's cast and their own characters' names.
That said, I LOVE the idea. I also thought it was CLEAR "Monsieur Abordoli with the utmost respect" my good man...that what they mean was it for use on their homeworld {That of the Xenomorphs}.
After the first film was released the video Game "AVP's" came out for Consoles.
Because it was released AFTER that first film the makers of it, FOX, granted it's own gaming division permission to insert this supposed REAL element for what Fox said at the time was "Canon Franchise material", something to that effect, so the Game Ended with a Video of Charles Bishop Weyland claiming He had just discovered the Co-ordinates to the Xenomorph Home world. So they continued with this Easter egg type insertion at the end of the last film "Requiem" to keep the Hype going.
The problem with all of this of course is just how Not Bad, But actually Horrendously Bad, Bad beyond any understanding and far far far out of whack and with a complete disrespect for everything laid out in the franchise before it..."Requiem" actually is!

MemberOvomorphJul-11-2012 7:38 AMWeyland falls after the demise/non-return of it's figureheads.
It might in fact be a little like in Iron-Man when Tony Stark has his change of heart, and their stock plummets and the board vote him out.
Weyland stock falls, the company begins to lose direction and fail
Yutani takes over - buys them out and has access to all this information recovered from Prometheus that took time to beam back to Earth?
Dum dum dummmmm
