More than one earth ship.

Not exactly sure which footage clip youre referring to, but I think thats the escape pod. I say that in reference to the Prometheus spaceship illustration they released earlier where they said the escape pod was at the back of the ship, and yet the earlier footage we saw of Vickers rushing into a pod-like thing and ejecting out of the side of Prometheus threw us off. Maybe there two types of escape-type pods? The larger one, with the extended landing gear does appear to crash on the surface as the Prometheus is ramming the Juggernaut.

I think the escape pod has landing gear so it looks different in the later shots.

That image (above) of the USCSS Prometheus ship was an EARLIER design by the guys ... they tweaked it and ended up with what we see in the trailers ... ;) ... to be honest I really love that earlier model ... @alphatechsungun ... Yes there's TWO types of escape POD ... BOTH labeled 'ESC' on the ship schematic ... one type (6 of them at the front of the ship) for individual use and a bigger one at the back of the ship that holds multiple people ... that bigger one is what you see smashed on the ground as the Juggernaut blows up above, in the sky ... ;) ... alphatechsungun... a great question. Ok Patrick Wilson... is he onboard a previous mission with Weyland... or simply a cameo appearance when David (as speculated) is viewing Shaw's dream before she awakens? Weyland... oh he is on the planet alright! But... in his hollogram at the beginning of the film the crew is to think he is dead. So he either is on another ship that either gets to the planet first... or follows the Prometheus? Or... as is most speculated... he is hidden onboard Prometheus at the beginning. (But why would he hide?)

I believe that at the end of the film the escape module D is what Janek and his crew (Ravel and Chance) use to escape the main ship as it crashes the Derelict. Then after landing the SJ gets inside the module and kills them all (hence the line "Why is that door open?!"). Vickers dies squashed by debris. Shaw gets into the module and confronts the SJ.

as far as the # of "vessels" we've seen, sans the Juggernaut, i've seen 3...the prometheus, the "life boat", and the "escape pod" that vickers ejects from. she leaves after the life boat does, in an individual capsule, for reasons unknown. either she wasnt welcome on the life boat, or she had trouble getting their in time.

Hmmm ... I was gonna say she leaves before the lifeboat and Janek and the others get out on that? ... BUT ... I wonder if she stays to help Weyland ... but no go ... and so he dies in the Prometheus/Juggernaut crash? ...

@Gem]n[ - cheers again - yeah I have seen the schematics...I just forgot them :-) Level 1's going to have 'Secret Weyland room' and 'Bio-weapon storage' and 'Extra David-8's' :-)
